swedishcelt 0 #76 September 22, 2007 When volunteering at homeless shelters I have unfortunately encountered the same thing, in NYC, in Hartford, in Philadelphia. The only place I noticed a truly grateful staff of volunteers and workers was when I volunteered in Chicago-Wilson Ave. They were a class act.
jtval 0 #77 September 22, 2007 I don't get it. Its not like I expected to be fed, waited on or even acknowledged. Every time I do something for the homeless they are great. As a volunteer, wouldn't you expect that the food SHOULD GO TO THE HOMELESS? I am volunteering...to help people in need. I can feed myself. Even it it is an 8 hours shift. You go with something to tied you over and help those you CHOSE to help. I swear there were people there who acted like they stubbed their vaginas. My photos My Videos
