hurloon 0 #1 August 10, 2007 I am by far a lurker rather than active poster here but just wanted to post something I am proud of. in my earlier thread http://dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2886419;#2886419 I basically professed my desire to skydive. Anyway, I was very heavy and couldn't jump. Last year in 2006 I weighed 320 lbs, and in 2007 I weighed 285.. but now later this year i've been on a steady plan of diet and exercise and am down to 265.. by the end of next spring I should be ready to make my first tandem jump! blue skies

Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.
kootmando1979 0 #13 September 18, 2007 Hurloon - I started a diet a year ago this month. My objective was to get to 200 so I could go do a tandem. I didn't think that it would actually happen...been on so my diets, etc. My starting weight was 276. On May 19th, I did my first tandem. I worked my ass off, literally, to get there. It was one of the proudest moments in my life. I lost the weight by myself without surgery, just a ton of running. After my first tandem I knew that it was something I loved. I signed up for an AFF course and haven't looked back. Skydiving has changed my life. The way I look at everything is so much different now. Keep up the great work. Your reward of your first tandem is worth it....plus the healthier lifestyle is great!

I'm not telling you this to encourange you to stop, but if you can't wait until March or April for your tandem, call around to some dropzones... Some facilities will take "larger" jumpers if they have a smaller tandem master. We do it all the time for some (like my friend Paul who is still 274).
