quade 4 #2 September 6, 2007 It's "cleaner" than gasoline. Ultimately though if you tried to convert ALL vehicles to propane it wouldn't solve dependance on foreign oil, since, it's a byproduct of refinement. masterrig 1 #3 September 6, 2007 I've driven propane powered vehicles and found that, engines last longer, cleaner burning. Difficult to find fuel stations, about half the fuel mileage and sluggish when you need to pass another vehicle. In this part of the country, propane costs just about as much as regular gasoline. Hard to start on really cold mornings. Chuck
Beer 0 #4 September 7, 2007 The sluggishness usually comes from vehicles running dual fuel carbs (allows gas or propane) I was looking into converting my Jeep over to LP. Found a kit for $800. The good thing about using it for off-roading is the extreme angles without fuel starvation. I'll try to dig up some articles later. Learn to be happy. The fact that Propane has a working pressure of 250-lbs. is good for steep grades and thus, helps prevent fuel starvation, since the engine uses the gas, rather than the liquid. Even though, the gas is heavier than air. Chuck
