I thought for a while my husband was going to be going to Belize without me or I'd have to sit on the beach while he went diving, but by the grace of God I made it. Barely. The sensation and visual imagery of gliding over a reef or "flying" over a cliff is something that I think most, if not all, jumpers would appreciate.Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. My most memorable of my early dives was my first fresh water spring dive. The tanked air you breath under water is very dry. So on this dive I got to simply pop my regulator out, take a few drinks, put back in, clear it, and then continue on! That and having a fish swimming beside your head... looking at you... and then swimming off as soon as you turn your head to look at ... Goudha is for Buddha, and that's good enough for me! He's done 3 skydives but didn't like it until the chute opened after that he was o.k. but he's a caver and loves it. He said he wanted to learn scuba. So I think it would be fun. lekstrom10k 0 #42 April 13, 2007 I got an advanced open water rating in 1980 or so. It got real expensive at the place Iwas at and quit the day I got my card signed. Out of a 30 person class only 7 graduated. They wouldnt sign off my night dives unless I bought an official "Scuba -Pro night flashlight. You had to buy official "Scuba - Pro lens defogger, no spitting on your on face mask like everyone else. I was commited into it. then gone . It would be like buying an altimeter for a tandem jump certificate sign off. The owner was told by me if we tried that in skydiving we would be out of business in a week. My open water dives are going to be scheduled over the summer, and I will be scuba certified by the end of summer. From what I've done in the pool thus far, scuba's a blast, and I can't wait to do more! Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably. I love skydiving but...there is so much mystery to the deep blue. And, though I know I should get a "rush" from skydiving, I really don't. Skydiving, for me, is actually a relaxing activity. I don't get a "rush" very often. I like being scared shitless--b/c it's so rare that I am. Scuba doesn't give me a "rush" so-to-speak either, but it gives me much more peace than skydiving does. It's REALLY hard for me to "make my brain stop" thinking (not literally, but...). Both scuba and skydiving are great for that but, scuba is way better. Did you know, we only know, (I haven't researched, just recalling) a mere 30% of the ocean's species??? Not that I'm diving down to a depth of undiscovered territory, but...the ocean is like outer-space to me. It's alien. It's wonderful. And it truly is a different world. I used to dive .....would definitely recommend it,,,,,,,soo relaxing..and such fun seeing how all the sea creatures live and interact...every dive is different...night dives ,,watching fish sleep...wreckdives.......reef dives.....used to love 'playing' under water too...doing somersaults ..lying on the ground looking up.....it's a whole new world....and such a free way to move around...love it Enjoy! D_22359 0 #50 April 14, 2007 Nothing compares to an open water desent...its kinda like freefall without the sudden stop or line twists...float'n off a wall that bottoms out well below recreational limits is like a slow speed base jump. Do it you'll love it.
