enflyt 0 #1 September 6, 2007 HOW THE HELL do you hardboil eggs??? Really.. I swear i'm not a total retard... but this is ridiculous. yesterday, at my moms instructions, i placed 2 dozen eggs in boiling water and left them there for like 15minutes. Then I took them off, ran them under cold water so they'd stop cooking, and i cracked one open... AND it was still raw! So today, I searched and found that it said to start with cold water bring to a "rolling" boil and then cook them for an additional 10 minutes. Well folks.. these puppies have been in hot water for like an hour now.. and i just checked one, and its STILL not done! WTF?! so... anyone else have any ideas? enflyt 0 #5 September 6, 2007 i stand corrected. I am an idiot. I just re-read the online instructions and apparently i skipped the capital letters that said boil the water over HIGH heat , then reduce heat to medium/low for an extra 10minutes. Hmmm... But here's the next part of the question.... How do you make deviled eggs??
skymama 37 #6 September 6, 2007 For large eggs, place the eggs in a single layer in a large pot and fill it with water covering them by 1 inch. Bring the water to a boil. As soon as it comes to a boil, take the pot off the burner, cover it and let the eggs sit in the water for 15 minutes. When the time is up, run the eggs under cold water. Keep changing the water so you stop the cooking process and until the eggs are cool. You could also place them in a bowl of ice water. The only thing I'm wondering is what size eggs you used, if they were in a single layer and if you had the pot covered while it sat. Other than that, Mom is right. She probably told you all that. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

skymama 37 #8 September 6, 2007 Deviled Eggs...there are a lot of variations. This is the basic kind from the Betty Crocker cookbook. Every time I make them, there are none leftover. 6 hard cooked eggs 1/4 cup mayo 1 t. vinegar 1 t. mustard 1/8 t. salt Halve the eggs lengthwise, remove yolks and mush them with a fork. Stir in mayo, then the rest of the ingredients. Stuff egg whites with the yolk mixture, garnish with paprika. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

skymama 37 #11 September 6, 2007 I've never tried it with anything other than white vinegar. It's really useful for cleaning stuff around the house too. But, if you need to make them tonight, I don't know what to tell you other than maybe look for another recipe online. Apple cider vinegar shouldn't alter the taste too much. Oh, and sprinkle the tops with paprika. It makes them pretty. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. Armour666 0 #17 September 6, 2007 With water in a herd boil the large bubbles keeps breaking the contact between the egg and water that’s why they are not cooking.
