Conundrum 1 #1 August 31, 2007 We all hear it. "That's a real woman". And I'm not talking about the bolt-ons (i.e. fake boobs), but the body itself. The word "real" is usually associated with women who are.... overweight. Is it just the nice way to lable the typical overweight American (or otherwise, but mostly American) woman? Short - Likes to fuck - A LOT - Can take care of herself (financially, emotionally, physically) - Can be a lady when she wants to, but like to be a whore sometimes - doesn't NEED a man, but knows when to let a man BE a man - and can suck a dick like she invented it. peregrinerose 0 #3 August 31, 2007 I always took it to mean 'real' as in not size 0 borderline eating disorder runway models. Not overweight/obese women. Women with a healthy BMI who are happy in their own skin and in good physical condition. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

BillyVance 34 #7 August 31, 2007 I'd say a size 10-14, maybe 16, who takes care of themselves. Did ya know Marilyn Monroe was a size 16? Shotgun 1 #8 August 31, 2007 Hmm... It doesn't seem to mean anything to me. I guess it's something I never hear anyone say. But if I did hear it, it would probably depend on who was saying it and in what context. But my first thought is that it means an actual woman, as opposed to one of those cardboard-beer-ad women (or something like that).

Shotgun 1 #10 August 31, 2007 Quote Did ya know Marilyn Monroe was a size 16? Did you know that dress sizes were different back then? I used to be in to wearing vintage clothes, and the dresses that fit me were usually a size 8-10, even though I wore a modern size 0-2. So I'm guessing that Marilyn didn't wear a modern size 16. ACMESkydiver 0 #14 August 31, 2007 I've never heard that term in reference to a woman's physique. I've always heard it in reference to a woman's attitude/abilities...i.e., "She can tune up her car and cook dinner. That's a real woman."~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.
Conundrum 1 #15 August 31, 2007 Really? I've heard it many many times in reference to physique. Even Davids Bridal has a "Woman" collection (which is plus size), which is along the same lines.

sunshine 2 #17 August 31, 2007 QuoteEven Davids Bridal has a "Woman" collection (which is plus size) Hrm, thats a good point. A lot of places consider 0-16 juniors, and anything higher to be 'women's' sizes. That does seem a bit fucked up. ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug! Conundrum 1 #19 August 31, 2007 Well it's all subjective. A size 16 in today's world is blubber fat to a lot of people.
tigra 0 #20 August 31, 2007 I have never heard or thought that the term meant "overweight"- since when is this the case? "Real" to me means just that-not fake or plastic, and that doesn't have to be physical- I think its more attitude than anything else. Great- now if I ever hear anyone say that about me, I'll just assume I've been insulted instead of complimented. thanks so much!

"Real" doesn't seem to apply to thin (sizes 0-4,5,6 I dunno?), in shape, women, just the plus size type.

I don't think it's supposed to be an insult, but I do think that being overweight has become such an epidemic (in this country at least) that being thin and in shape seems out of reach and unrealistic to most people. Hence where the "real" term comes from. That's just my thought on it.

I think it injustice to label a person "Plastic", for paying a lot of time and interest into taking care of her physical appearance, or making it one of her highest priorities. On the flip side - women (as a whole, not individuals) are so entranced by their looks and projected persona that they have become VERY vulnerable in this regard.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun
