brianfry713 0 #26 August 28, 2007 I'm glad it sounds like she's probably going to be okay. I was worried on the flight home last night. I'll stay up and watch her for part of the night when she gets home if you want.

guppie01 0 #30 August 28, 2007 Brian you're such a great boyfriend! Leah, sorry your baby is going through this. Sorry you are going through this. About 5 years ago, my baby got VERY ill while I was away on a business trip. I nearly lost him - 12k / and 30 days later I was able to take him home from the animal hospital. 6 months later the peg tube was taken out of his stomach.... 5 years later and he is still kicking! He amazes me - 16 years old, has CIBD and many lives to go. God I felt like SHIT being out of town when it happend! I completely understand you perferring to stay home with Katana and take care of her. You'll have a bond between her after this that will be so wonderful!!! Much love and kitty VIBES heading north!!! xoxo g "Let's do something romantic this Saturday... how bout we bust out the restraints?" Raddest Ho this side of Jersey #1 - MISS YOU OMG, is she okay? Animals are living breathing beings and it's really sad that people don't always see them that way. If you want to have pets you have the responsibility to make sure they get the proper medical care. Having a pet is a choice and one you should not take lightly. One of the things you need to consider before adding a pet to your house hold is the medical bills that might come with it. Because remember no pet is "free" I can understand not spending the money if it is a question of weather your child eats or your cat gets surgery or something similar but, a week or 2 of vacation is not worth more than the life of a family member to me. I might be bummed but, I never had to even think about how that money was going to be spent! I know people have different opinions but, That is mine.Fly like a girl

flygirl1 0 #34 August 28, 2007 Thanks Gia, your so sweetI'm so glad your baby is ok. It's so hard when they are in pain and all you want to do is make them feel better I had a cat live to be 18 with diabetes. It's amazing how long they can live when they are that determined. I wish you many more happy years with your kittyP.S I remember you talking about him walking through the house howling. My other kitty Slider has been doing the same thing since Katana left. He is a Siamese too Fly like a girl

Sorry about your first kittyI know they have animal health insurance plans that I'm kicking my self now I didn't look into for Katana. I don't know very much about them other then what they advertise online so if anyone on here has personal experience with them let me know. You and your wife could always save up some money first before you get a cat just to have on hand incase of an emergency. I feel very lucky I had that money saved up for my trip and will from now on keep money set aside for this purpose.Fly like a girl

flygirl1 0 #37 August 28, 2007 I just got a call from the vet. She said Katana is out of surgery now and is just waking up. She said they had to cut away quite a bit of infected tissue so she is going to have a big scar but, she should fully recover. They said she is probably going to have to stay over night because they want to keep her on strong antibiotics. They also said when she gets home she will have to stay in her carrier for a couple of days to prevent her from getting her collar off and licking her self.Fly like a girl

Conundrum 1 #39 August 28, 2007 Quoteno pet of mine would ever be worth that kind of money It depends on the pet. I could see shelling out $1,300 for a dog (maybe), but a cat, reptile, rabbit, etc... I dunno.

It might be a good idea to consider leaving her at the hospital until the "licking problem" is no longer an issue. ThanksI was Thinking I might at least for the next couple nights. I don't think I'll be able to afford to do it much longer then that unless she is in real danger of course. I'll just have to wake up constantly at night to check her and she will have to stay in her little crate for the next week I know it's for her own good but, I feel bad about confining herFly like a girl
