kingbunky 3 #1 June 27, 2006 i'm wondering what to do.... i sent a piece of gear back to it's manufacturer for service, at some point back in early april. may 2, my credit card is billed for the work and return shipping. this total was about half the cost of the item, a bit surprising, but serves me right for not asking for a quote before the work was done. it's now the end of june, and i still don't have my gear back! i've been in contact with the manufacturer on several occasions and their response has been, 'we shipped it, it's probably held up in customs, let us know if it arrives.' would you consider this a valid reason, or should i raise shit and ask for a replacement item? to me, 2 months is more than enough time. we're talking under $200 (USD) , just to keep it vague but in perspective. i don't want to name the manufacturer, yet."Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." marks 0 #2 June 27, 2006 well, is it in customs? i have seen them hold stuff before. did you call them and ask? do you have the tracking number? did you ask for it? call the shipper and see where they left it.
kingbunky 3 #3 June 27, 2006 no tracking number (that i was given anyway), shipper is usps. they said they talked to customs and were told things were backed up. i can see a back up for a week or two, not a month or two. i have received no notice from customs or the post office that they have it, or that there is duty to pay (there shouldn't be) or anything. riggerrob 643 #4 June 27, 2006 Isn't Canada Customs wonderful???? A few years back, they held an entire Racer tandem rig for three weeks!!! And it was only a loaner!!!! The only thing worse is courier companies charging you "brokerage fees" to bring things across the border. Talk about bending you over and raping you!!! I learned - the hard way - NEVER to ship stuff across the Canadian border via UPS.

I learned - the hard way - NEVER to ship stuff across the Canadian border via UPS. Damn straight. When I was living in BC I ordered a few items from the States and when it arrived it had been opened and inspected by Candian Customs (which I expected) but they also crushed one of the items. completely ruined. The item wasnt expensive enough to try and get Customs to accept responsibility so I just gritted my teeth and said "Thank you sir, may I have another?" Canadian Customs sucks ass.__ My mighty steed
MrBrant 0 #6 June 27, 2006 mail to and from the states is REALLY slow right now. I've sent some stuff down to FL, and had them send stuff back up, and its taking like a MONTH when it was shipped AIR!
skybytch 273 #7 June 27, 2006 Quotewould you consider this a valid reason, or should i raise shit and ask for a replacement item? I'm confused. Why should the manufacturer have to send you a replacement when there is absolutely nothing they can do about the item not arriving yet?
kingbunky 3 #8 June 27, 2006 i guess my point is, when do you assume the item was lost in transit, and take some steps to recover it?"Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." MB4252 TDS699 killing threads since 2001
