Bolas 5 #1 August 28, 2007 Is useless manager redundant? I think I have come up with some new terms for managers. Email Manager (AKA FYI manager)- A manager that seems to only forward copies of things you are already receive or rather than send something out to only the relevant people sends to everyone. Usually adds FYI before forwarding on. Many times it was forwarded to them with FYI added as well. I'd have more time to do my job if I didn't have to sort through and delete all the crap from my damn email managers. Filter Manager - A manager with no decision making ability whose only real job seems to collect questions and ask his manager. Usually hired by a micromanager who is forced to cur down on his direct reports but still wants to retain total control. When we were on that call, you could hear the filter manager IMing his boss for the answer.Stupidity if left untreated is self-correcting If ya can't be good, look good, if that fails, make 'em laugh. A while back, I loaded a database system from 9 other systems. So, I had to be on their group-email lists. My manager (who had no IT or management experience ) insisted on being on the same lists, but had no idea what the emails meant... and forwarded them to me for comments that could be repeated in a meeting. Yep, it's just like handing the water balloon to a 10 yo. "Perhaps they are discussing the impact of the new 'write-only' disk array."
chykynlyps 0 #4 August 29, 2007 i could see how that could be frustrating. i have very little corporate experience, however, i have worked in restaurants for years. let me tell you, the managers in most restaurants are about as effective as monkeys flinging shit. many cant keep their heads when they are in the shit and very few have any sort of leadership skills. i like those, they are very easy to take advavtage of.Bear Down Chicago Bears!
