Finally got my car, any suggestions on mods/add-ons?

Recommended Posts

I used to own a 1967 Shelby GT 500 #0194. Yes, it was the real thing...spent ten years restoring it, making slight modifications to improve handleing, and power. 365hp, 425lbs of trq. 4 on the floor, and twin quads under the hood sitting ontop a medium rise manifold, on a 428 LeMahns block. But in the end, it was just a car. (oh, but such a beautiful car). Anyway, I have surpased the need for speed, and to have other people look at me. However, if you want to go fast, here is my sugestion: http://www.factoryfive.com/rdsterhome.html

I have been to the factory five shop....this is not a kit, this is a race winning car. They have improved on the original Cobra design. Of course if you are buying a car for an investment, go with the real thing.

I drive an old jeep now, that barely passes 60mph...like I said...I dont have the need for speed anymore...except in the sky. Well, or maybe when I ride my Vmax.

Nice car. A friend mine recently bought a new Shelby GT Cobra. 500 HP, supercharged, and the block is signed by the guy that put it together. He can go to a larger supercharger without voiding his warranty. I drove it and in the straights, the only thing I have driven faster was the MB Maclaren SLR. If your block can take it, supercharge it.

Their nice, but for the money difference of the regular gt vs the shelby 500, you can BLOW the shelby away.

The shelby is like 50,000 and I got mine as a left over for 28,500. For $8,000 more I can push around high 600's RWHP and still be at the regular cost of a new gt convertible. Asides from having the literal new shelby's, the power is achieveable in a regular gt while saving much more money.

Sorry, I didn't mean to come off like the Shelby was a much better car, just that it was from that driving experience that I was suggesting the supercharger for your GT.

Derek

No no I didn't mean it like that. I think for being stock, the shelby is amazing. I just meant in general I don't see why people by them for any other reason then having an official cobra.

I was stating for the power and performance, you can save a whole lot of money and the cobra out of the water with a gt and mods.

If I bought it, it would be for investment not a lot of driving. 20 years from now it has a much better chance of being worth a much higher value. :)

Damn nice car, better than any ride I have these days.

Supercharger, no.

Turbocharger, maybe. Still a lot of plumbing and tweaking. Maybe just say "NO", as in Nitrous Oxide.

Can you get a high performance chip for the engine for quick, easy horsepower?

Maybe some different wheels.

If it was my 'Stang, I'd leave it stock as a stove, grab Vskydiver, and head to the DZ with all that left over bank in my pocket.B|

A good set of springs an coilovers maybe a 2° negative camber an upgrade the disks an pads.
Fitting a cold air intake is good also a catback.
But if it aint a stickshift all you've really got is a nice commuter.

Gone fishing
