XP registry

Recommended Posts

I just deleted a load of old junk/programs that I don't use any more.
Then decided to clean the registry, to my horror it reported 2249 problems,
Is this normal that over time so many problems can occur

depends....
did you just delete programs or uninstall them?
did you just randomly delete items that you don't use but the system may need?
did you just delete registry hives?
what did you use to "clean" the registry?
what is the humidity of the room in which windows is running? :P

While that's the 'proper' way to remove software, very few if any programs adequately remove their registry entry's properly when they uninstall. There's always lots of chaff left over...

That said, that does seem like a large number of 'errors', but you've really got to have a lot of faith in registry tools anyway, since they can render you box inoperable after running. Really, what could go wrong? :P

I've always thought the registry was an abomination, and wish we'd just go back to .ini files!

Better yet...

Format HD
Install any flavor of Linux.
Place Windows install disc in microwave on high for 2 minutes.
Replace microwave if needed.
Problem solved!

Better Yet...

Go to www.apple.com, buy a real computer, install Paralells and WinXP just because you can. use Paralells snapshot capability to go back in time :)

Computer still worked after deleting all problems, but was running slow, the start up file was a mess, Seeing as every thing important is double
backed up I formated the disk drives

Now I've installed a dual boot, one for normal use an the other super clean just for the flight sims,
tomorrow I'll reinstall all my CSF's and X see if they work faster.

Oh an I set aside a partition just for the pornos:$:D:D

simple.....start, run cmd

at the command prompt:
c:\delreg /y

this should solve your problems

I used to have fun with "Deltree" as well:ph34r::D:D

Normiss, Personally I prefer the CSF series over X. I have the deluxe version an it's as hungry as hell.
even with a 3.00Ghz cpu 2Gb of ram an a ATI 600pro card it still slows down on graphics,
The detail is fantastic an the addons are endless, (I even found a Pilatas porta jump ship)
The concorde is still impossible to land, well for me anyway.
But as I said you'll need a really high end multimedia machine to get the full benefits.
