The Smeaton's in my home town had 23 kids - She was pregnant pretty much her whole life. I wanted to just shake her hand every time I saw her.

Good Catholics too.

wow

I just can't believe anybody can do that. Just amazing.

Disgusting. >:(

If you really want that many kids for the sake of having that many kids, fucking adopt!

Why? Who are we to say if it's right or wrong for THEM? 's Advocate>

If they were on welfare and "taxing the system" I would be all over it. But it seems they can afford to raise that many kids so why should anyone be angry?

They maybe debt free but can they stay debt free??
Weddings...college...god forbid childhood illness...

Weddings...well, there's courthouse weddings, backyard weddings, families will cater for each other, brides can make their own dresses, etc. Not for me, but it's doable, I suppose.

College...either they get scholarships, student loans (I'm sure they qualify for Pell Grants) or they just don't go and do a trade.

And when mom and pop get old, there won't be a shortage of descendants to take care of them as needed. :P

Good point...I should have had more kids.

Only bad thing is, with that many kids, if they all turn out great, there's less inheritance to split among them all.

I guess the biggest issue that I have after reading this story is what she is doing to her body. I'm sorry but being pregnant that many times that often? It just can't be good. But then again it is her body not mine. I leave it at that.

Sacrifice, selflessness, giving, sharing, charity, friendship, communication, heroism, work, ethics, love, generousity, etc..... all these things just come easier in a large family.

Remember, it takes a village. They just don't want them to live in one house.;)

What she's doing to her body is a helluva lot more natural than what many other women do by taken artificial birth control (with their known links to breast cancer, etc), and abortions, etc.

But like you said it's HER body, not yours... So just leave it at that.

My wife's grandmother had 12 kids. She just turned 90. She had a prolapsed uterus, but they just sewed the thing back up in there. She's perfectly happy and a wonderful woman. 12 kids, 55 grandkids, 70+ greatgrandkids and it goes up every month. Not one is any kind of addict. Not one divorce in the family. No one ever in jail. All of age have gone to college or trade school.

That's what happens in families like these.

A prolapsed uterous sounds painfull... Is that like getting a hangnail?

I dunno... but I thought it was kinda funny... the way I heard it she was taking a pee and *PLOP* out came the uterus. I could see her yelling for her husband, "CLETUS, MY UTERUS FELL OUT AGAIN!", then trying to stuff it back in or putting it in a plastic bag or something while they went to the hospital.

The whole thing just seemed a little comical to me. Don't get me wrong, I love the woman to death. She's a living saint. I don't mean to make fun of her. She has a great sense of humor and sees the rediculousness of one of her own organs falling out as well.

I guess that solves the 'friction' problem stated earlier....

'"It actually went fast," she said. "I guess once I started progressing, it went within 30 minutes."'

Of course it fricken went fast! She could probably sneeze and pop.;)

Almost reminded me of that Monty Python movie, I think the one called "Life of Brian" with that house full of 20+ kids and the mom's at the kitchen sink and a baby just plops out of her onto the floor! :D:D:D

Lol yup it's Life of Brian... But dude, seriously, she's that woman!!! She's like a one woman mission to over populate the world! How the heck do they even begin to afford a family that large?
