skyscallin 0 #2 August 3, 2007 Thank you for your thoughts!! I live a few short miles away from there. It is just horrible!!! Hard to believe it just fell. Had a long day waiting to hear from my husband who was up that way for work as well...but he is just fine. skymama 37 #3 August 3, 2007 Yeah, we know. It leads all of the news stories. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
wildfan75 1 #4 August 3, 2007 Jeremy_o's girlfriend saw it happen. She was on her way to his house (he lives about 3 blocks from the bridge) and for some reason she decided to take the 10th ave bridge. She was on the 10th ave bridge when it collapsed. She has no idea why she took that way as she always takes 35W, but I am really glad that she did. I have been over that bridge at least a couple of thousand times. Its hard to believe its gone. Very surreal. Once the recovery operations and all the hub-bub calms, I'm going to need to go see it. But God damn, I am proud to be a Minnesotan after seeing and hearing about everyone's selfless acts of courage.
rehmwa 2 #5 August 3, 2007 There's a lot of stuff now in the news that would take this subject to Speaker's Corner. But I wouldn't bring it up here. We spent some time checking on those local skydivers that we knew used that bridge. ... shropshire 0 #6 August 3, 2007 It's NO WAY a topic for SC, it's a thinking of you and yours thread. I'd be less than happy if anyone had this moved by adding some political agenda. (.)Y(.) jeremy_o 0 #7 August 3, 2007 I live 2-3 blocks from that bridge! Very crazy that it happened, I still don't believe it. Yes, my gf SAW the damn thing collapse. I'm so glad she took the other way to my house!! http://planetskydive.net/ - An online aggregation of skydiver's blogs.
dqpacker 7 #8 August 3, 2007 Last year we took a boat trip up the Mississippi on a new jumpers boat. 15 of us mostly staff. Last night we were talking about the bridge and I looked through my pics from the boat trip and found this photo of our dzo doing a titanic pose right before the bridge. The bridge that collapesed is the second bridge, not the white arched bridge.
Muenkel 0 #9 August 5, 2007 My brother takes that bridge everyday to and from work. Lately though he had switched to the 10 due to the construction on the 35W. Fortunately he's been away on vacation since before the collapse. You just never know...... _________________________________________ Chris
