Scoop 0 #52 July 29, 2007 Anyone know anything about Chris Boardman's range of bikes? http://www.boardmanbikes.com/?jspStoreDir=HalfordsConsumerDirect&mpe_id=12054&catalogId=10151&evtype=CpgnClick&intv_id=45544&langId=-1&storeId=10001 I'm looking at the lower level model, the 'comp' one. From what I'm picking up it sounds like its got the right bits and pieces on it. I think its either going to be that or the Trek 1200 for me. Any advice/recommendations I'll be grateful. Thanks EDIT: No matter now, I've decided to go for the Boardman Team: Ultralight 7005 Aluminium frame, triple butted main tubes, double butted stays, CNC headtub, Superlight carbonfibre monocoque forks with full carbon blades and steerer, All Ritchley Pro accesories and finishing kit, Shimano Ultegra gears. PIC HERE Be getting it tax free through the cycle to work scheme the government are running currently. Just means I'll have to wait a little. Went and tried one for size today at local store. Couldn't stop drooling.
Remster 30 #53 July 29, 2007 That Boardman looks better on paper. Its also GPP 250 more, so you'd expect that. Make sure you try it 1st. I've never heard of them, but that's not unusual when looking at smaller companies: it may still be a very good frame.Remster
Stumpy 284 #54 July 29, 2007 Looks nice - but i haven't heard anything about how they ride. Playing on the boardman name - for those who don't know he won an olympic track gold a few years ago i think. Remember you need pedals on top of that - there are a couple of online stores that are really good, wiggle is the one that springs to mind. Personally i like the shimano ultegra pedals but it depends on your budget. Good luck with it, would be really interested to hear your thoughts once you have ridden it.Never try to eat more than you can lift
Scoop 0 #55 July 29, 2007 They are relatively new and the sales guy says they are getting very good feedback on them. He can supply any manufacturer of bike so he has no reason to twist my arm into buying one paticular brand. Hes also my friends brother so I would hope he wouldn't stitch me up. I've seen it in the flesh today and had a sizing and it felt nice. The pedals, bottle/cage/shoes etc will all be thrown into the package too. Can't wait, just as with everything to do with my employer it'll take an age

Scoop 0 #60 July 31, 2007 To those who wanted more info about heart rates and fat burning training zones etc I found this helpful spreadsheet. Just chill out for a few minutes to get a good reading of your resting heart rate and input that and it shows you your optimum training zones depending on the purpose of your training. I don't have many miles (or any TT's) on it yet but do like it quite a bit so far. I want to lighten it up this winter, stem, armrests, change the Ultegra brake to Zero G's (who needs strong brakes in a TT??). I do have a pending bid on a Salsa Cyclo Cross bike (so when the weather sucks for skydiving or the "Good" bikes, can still get a ride (and a bit muddy) this winter....
