The photo of the two bird in mid plummet is dramatic. BSBD.

The man fleeing from police was later taken into custody by a SWAT team after barricading himself inside a house, police said. Police Chief Jack Harris suggested he could be charged in connection with the collision.

"I believe you will want to talk to investigators, but I think he will be held responsible for any of the deaths from this tragedy," Harris told reporters at the scene. He did not elaborate.

The Police Chief is out of line.

I think he is serious. I know if a cop is killed in an accident during the chase they charge the perp. Maybe they are wanting to make a show of this guy and charge him with the 4 deaths to prove a point to other punk ass losers that steal cars and run from the cops.

Jim Cox was a helluva guy, awesome photographer, and had done a tandem skydive. Was very sad to receive this phone call.
He was an amazing portrait photographer/stills photographer, and loved flying nearly as much as he loved taking pix. He stayed "New York" even in Phx.

they are very serious about charging him with the deaths. if in the commision of a crime a death occurs becuase of it either directly or indirectly its related to it and your charged with it in this state. reasoning being if you hadnt done it, it wouldnt have happened.

So if I decide to tail gate a police chase, with my handy cam rolling and I end up dieing in a fiery crash is that also the liability of the suspect? Police are in the chase because it is there job. They are doing it to protect the public. Spectators (news media) were in it to protect ratings. As tragic as it is, the line must be drawn somewhere. When a police officer dies in pursuit, they did so because they had to pursue. In this tragedy, they chose to pursue.

Naw, the cops would have arrested you for reckless endangement long before you ever had the chance to crash.:S

Of course having a multi million dollar helo and a film crew somehow makes that different.

One of our local jumpers was struck by another car.
The driver of the other car took off and a chase followed, with 911 on the phone. The 911 operator told the pursuer to back off.

The two cars came up on another car waiting to turn.
The escaping car went around the stationary car on the right side, off the pavement. When coming back onto the road, they lost control and went head-on into another car, killing the occupants.

The driver of the pursing car was charged with manslaughter.

If the driver of the pursuing car was not a police officer, and did not back off after being told to by 911, then they are responsible for reckless driving and unnecessarily endangering other drivers and pedestrians. (Yeah it sucks that they were the victims of a hit and run, but that doesn't give them the right to endanger others by recklessly chasing the other vehicle.)

But that situation doesn't seem to have much similarity to this helicopter collision.
