mysky 1 #1 July 22, 2006 Can anyone with one of these units tell me how to get the backlight on? I know in the manual it says to press the top right button. I'm having no luck with that and wondering if there is something else that needs to be set before this function operates. I've read and re-read the manual over and over and it just isn't telling me what to do. Anyone who speaks Larsen and Brusgaard please translate how to get this to operate for me. mysky 1 #3 July 22, 2006 No they are not different. They make the new Altitrack which is an altimeter and flight computer combined into one. You must be thinking of something else. GlasgowTitan 0 #6 July 23, 2006 QuoteFigured it out. Care to share? I'm having the same trouble with the backlight, I can't seem to get it to turn on.... Pressing the top right button for access does bugger all. Although its not like I actually NEED the backlight, still be nice to know how it works. cheersSave a cow, eat a vegetarian! mysky 1 #8 July 24, 2006 Alright, my unit is not broken because I called Square 2 and had them try to turn on another unit they had and they had no luck either. Here's the problem. The directions tell you just to press the right access button but you have to perform the right access exactly like the left access. You'll press the button and release, then press it and hold until the green light on the front goes solid, then press and release again. Bam, you'll have a backlight! I found this out accidently by performing the left access function on the right thinking they might have just assumed we should know this even though it's not stated that way in the manual. If you get confused just look in your manual at how to do a left access and do that for the right access and you will be in clover. brycew 0 #9 July 25, 2006 Is the backlight just for the LED screen, or does the backlight light up the altimeter face as well (for night jumps)?
GraficO 0 #10 July 25, 2006 the backlight is for the altimeter face. I don't beleive that there is a light for the LCD on the back.GraficO "A Mind is a terrible thing to taste."
mysky 1 #11 July 25, 2006 That is correct, there is no backlight for the LED screen on the back of the unit. The light is on the front for the altimeter. cheponey 0 #12 September 1, 2014 I had the same problem with the inclusion of the backlight on Altitrack altimeter. Reading the manual and notes from the forum nothing I was not clear. I could not turn on the light. ,,, How I did it. Short click on the right button immediately after that again click on the right button and hold it, but when there is a green LED light release the right button. Only then will turn on the backlight. Of course if you want to turn the same procedure.,,, 1. Press the Right Front Button and release quickly 2. When the green ACCESS indicator light on the front of the ALTITRACK dial illuminates, immediately press the Right Front Button again and keep it pressed (ACCESS indicator light goes OFF) 3. When the ACCESS indicator illuminates again, release the button immediately
