AndyMan 7 #1 July 24, 2006 Is it possible / difficult to add a retractable pilot chute to a standard Triathlon? Is it a lot of work to add one? Thanks, _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
tri160 1 #2 July 24, 2006 It can be done but it crw puts a lot of stress on a canopy. If you're going to do crw regularly you should just go ahead and get a lightning. It's built for it and plus you'll be compatible with other crw jumpers. Either way CRW ROCKS!!!!
diablopilot 2 #3 July 24, 2006 The Triathlon IS a CRW canopy.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
faulknerwn 38 #4 July 24, 2006 Its possible but I would get the factory to do it... Triathalons fly very well with Lightnings on casual CRW. And I recommend them to tons of people who can't commit to having a whole separate CRW rig... A hybrid Triathalon that you can take to terminal is a great compromise.. tri160 1 #6 July 24, 2006 Yes the design is a crw canopy, but the standard triathlon does not have the reinforcing built in to it like a lightniing or a triathlon hybrid does. that is the point i was trying to make. I own a lightning and a triathlon and there is no comparison in how strong they are built.
karlm 0 #7 July 24, 2006 Aerodyne makes three versions on their Triathlon. Triathlon RW Triathlon Hybrid Triathlon CRW The RW & Hybrid are standard canopies with a few modifications, but if ordered new can come with the CRW reinforcing. The Triathlon CRW is built for CRW and has many additional options for it. Aerodyne has retractable bridles in stock, so chat to your rigger and see if they keen to do the mod for you, or all Aerodyne and they'll help you out. PM if you need anymore info Better never to have met you in my dream than to wake and reach for hands that are not there.
DJL 235 #8 July 24, 2006 There's different construction on the hybrid and CRW tri's than the regulars, mostly for reinforcement at specifics spots. I jumped a Hybrid Tri for quite a while before I decided I wanted a more zippy main and also bought a lightning. I still have it if you'd like to buy it. I've gotten offers before but have had trouble parting with it."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

That's exactly what I was hoping. I've got an email in to Aerodyne but so far no answer. My rigger is willing as long as she has good instructions, but so far she doesn't know whats involved. To anyone who's looking to part ways with their hybrid, I'd need a 190, and it must be the stock rainbow color pattern. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. Your needs are a little more specific than mine, but it might be worth a shot.
