PLFXpert 0 #26 July 17, 2007 Perhaps. But, on the other hand I'm constantly moving things Billy has placed randomly in the middle of the kitchen counter--right where he knows where they are. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
Muenkel 0 #27 July 17, 2007 Quoteand I usually start fairly organized when I move into an new place, etc... its just that it never really lasts very long.. I think I have to call bullshit on this. I saw your dvd and I don't think I have ever seen such an uncluttered kitchen, not to mention spotless as yours. _________________________________________ Chris
aprilcat 0 #28 July 18, 2007 Making your bed in the morning, and not going to bed wtih dirty dishes, have both struck me as utterly pointless in the path. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I'm a Clutter Queen who will throw things out annually. My paperwork is in order but I have books and magzines that I'm 'reading' all over the place. No matter what..I'm a stickler for making my bed every single morning and not having dishes in the sink. This morning I made the bed before I went to the bathroom and came out wondering when I made the bed. This weekend I cleaned my closet and I threw out shoes I haven't worn and I know I'm NOT going to wear. I have some cool ones for my sister set aside, but I'm in serious mourning. jumpnjivin 0 #30 July 18, 2007 Quote I don't know if I'm organized... but here a few things I do... My closet is arranged in 2 large groups: casual and work clothes (with a small really formal section in the back)... within those two categories, shirts and pants are seperated... and those categories break down by color, and eventually by long sleeve or short sleeve... I have two laundry baskets on the floor... one for dirty light clothes and one for dirty dark clothes. As far as things in my kitchen go, I have the stuff I use all the time in the top shelves and stuff that I rarely use under the counter tops. My silverware, glasses and plates are all easily accessible from one corner, which also happens to be near the dishwasher. As I'm super busy with work and evening classes, I've also started cooking my meals for the week to come on Sunday. I'm watching what I'm eating and how much I'm spending... so I make a meal plan, shop accordingly and then seperate my meals/snacks into zip loc bags or containers. All of Monday's food goes in one plastic container; I have one container for each work day. This helps control caloric intake AND I spend so much less time preparing food during the week. I eat a ton of produce, so it's pretty easy. However, people tend to think I'm crazy when they see my fridge... I'm just a busy health nut is all. I throw away anything I haven't used in a long time... or that isn't pratical or extremely sentimental. That's all I got for you. I'm curious to see what other people have to say. So what kind of meals do you put togheter that last all week. I'm trying to save money and eat better and my time is tight as well with classes and work. NWFlyer 2 #31 July 18, 2007 Kitchen cabinets - everything has its home. My storage space is pretty tight so I have to be efficient with it. Fortunately I also have a very handy boyfriend who built me more shelves and a pullout on one of the bottom cabinets.Fridge - is roughly organized. Things that I always have on hand are usually in roughly the same space. Closet - is a mess. I have a pile of shoes on the floor and I'm constantly trying to find the other one in whatever pair I want to wear. My clothes are at least all hung up, and every so often I'll organize so that pants/skirts are towards the middle, short sleeves on the right, long sleeves on the left. If I'm really organized, off-season will make it to the closet in the office/guest room. Having an extra room means that it becomes the place where everything gets dumped. One way in which I have been really good at organizing myself lately is organizing my time. I went from jobs where I drove in and/or worked from home to a job where I'm taking the bus in the mornings. Plus the last couple weeks I've started working out in the mornings at the gym by my office. Since mornings are usually when I feel most discombobulated, I idiot-proof it the night before. If it's a gym day, my gym clothes are laid out and my work clothes and everything I need to get ready is already packed in my gym bag, and my oatmeal is ready to be made for breakfast once I get to the office. On all days, gym day or not, vitamins are laid out, the coffee is on a timer and lunch is ready to grab and go. 10 minutes the night before prevents chaos, crankiness, and missed buses in the morning. Butters 0 #32 July 18, 2007 Wow ... I read your post and it matched my organization almost exactly. Almost everything is organized (including my food for each day and for each meal) and I am a minimalist so I don't have a lot of stuff and I get rid of stuff I have but don't use. Maybe I should post some pictures instead of the "rough" diagram I posted."That looks dangerous." Leopold Stotch
PLFXpert 0 #33 July 18, 2007 I definitely do not hold on to anything I have no use for. I can't stand clutter. And I have little to no emotional attachment to most things. It's VERY easy for me to donate or toss it. Just the other day, I noticed we had two shelves full of video tapes. What the hell am I going to do with those? I loaded them in a bag and dropped them off at Goodwill. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
