The case of the mysterious moving curser

Recommended Posts

Ok you computer geeks. I have this problem with my curser. sometimes, I'll be typing away, ant the curser moves to a different spot, and before you know it, I'm typing away in the middle of a word three sentences ago. I drives me crazy. How do I fix this?

thought about that one already. it's happened without me touching the pad at all. I've had it happen when I'm using one finger to type.

Make sure you're using the vendor-supplied drivers and not the operating system. Sometimes they don't play well.

Doesn't matter. If your palms scrape the pad, it'll move. ANYWAY, you can disable the pad so it doesn't do that.
Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Not had that problem specifically, but I've had instances on here when I'm typing a post and use a pair of those mark ups like (quote) or (b), etc... and I get the first one placed where I want, then mark the location for the closing mark up, click the mark up I want and click it in place but it ends up in a different place. :S And this is a desktop computer. :|

You shouldn't be using that kind of language, anyway. Go wash your mouth out with soap, young lady.

my HP has a little hardware button to disable the pad...so convenient

how do I disable the pad?

Do you use it? Or do you use an external mouse?

Go into the control panel and double click the little mouse icon. Somewhere in there it probably has something along the lines of 'disable mouse click while typing' that will ignore touches for a few seconds after you've pressed a key. Some laptops have a key stroke to disable it as well - do you have a "fn" button near the bottom? It's usually like that with the F9 key for Toshibas ... I think.
it's like incest - you're substituting convenience for quality

what he said, there's too much adult footage on the hard drive.
either that or the mouse is sensitive to vibrations.

almost always the external mouse

Then you should be able to go to the Control Panle and disable the touch pad from there.
