sky-pimp 0 #1 August 8, 2006 I was a proud owner of a lovely pair of gatorz radiator sunglasses sit, stand and flat all no problem , then came the invite to try a shuttlecock ( headdown if you can hold it ) HOLY SHIT THEY PULLED STRAIGHT OF MY HEAD . now that jump was expensive and i would love another pair but i don't want the same thing to happen again by the way they are so much better than goggles , no steaming up and you can leave them on all day , if they don't flip off ... any advice would be great .... AggieDave 6 #2 August 8, 2006 You can use keepers that slide on. You can even drill a small hole in each of the ear pieces and attatch a line through the glasses. Use your imagination. I've done about 1800 jumps with gatorz and have never had a problem with them coming off. It also helps if you bend the frames to fit your head just right.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
sky-pimp 0 #3 August 8, 2006 i had thought about drilling a little hole in them , then sewing them to the keeper strap ... have you been head down with them on ?? YeHaaaaaaaaaaa
AggieDave 6 #4 August 8, 2006 Quote have you been head down with them on ?? Yup. With just the keepers on them, no holes or anything. I typically wear a helmet, though, so that helps. A side note, I'm really not any good at headdown and when I was trying to learn I accidently did a HD jump (solo jump) that averaged 275mph. My gatorz pulled out away from my face and were vibrating against the keeper strap. It was at that point that I realized I *might* be going really fast. I also made the mistake of flaring out of the HD straight into a belly to earth position. That kinda hurt.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." sky-pimp 0 #5 August 8, 2006 dood now that is fast for some one not very good at at HD .. i also wear a helmet , always . maybe you have a really good set of keepers ?? what sort are they and where can i get a pair ?? YeHaaaaaaaaaaa
AggieDave 6 #6 August 8, 2006 I can't remember the name of the keepers, I got them at Academy. They're the cloth tube with the plastic ring on the back to pull towards your head. Sorry I can't help you more than that.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

JohnRich 4 #9 August 8, 2006 Leave them on the ground, and wear goggles.
Pendragon 1 #10 August 8, 2006 You might say that, but I've actually had more trouble with goggles spontaneously lifting from my face (particularly in stand) than with my Gatorz/Croakies combo. I always wear a helmet (it's compulsory here anyway, so it's kinda habitual ) which makes it really unlikely for them to ever fall off. What I have found however is wearing one of those Gath helmets with the visor - if pulled over only 1/4 the way, it creates enough dead-air in front of my face to stop goggles etc fluttering around yet doesn't lift up in a sit. (Oh, and it looks really cool too! ... shame about the lack of protection ) Richard-- BASE #1182 Muff #3573 PFI #52; UK WSI #

Dolph 0 #12 August 9, 2006 Have you tried Flex Z Mini Goggles? If you can get those fuckers to lift off, you're doing something I can't. The flashy goggles like Peerser and whatnot will lift off if you just look through them. Flex Z Minis are just about bulletproof.
AggieDave 6 #13 August 9, 2006 Quote Flex Z Minis are just about bulletproof. If you superglue the bead around the outside of the goggles. Otherwise the bead comes off in under 100 jumps.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

Pendragon 1 #15 August 9, 2006 Flex Z Mini goggles? Oh yes, they were the ones that lifted off! Actually, they were less prone to it than some. Maybe my stand is just fast? ...and AggieDave is right - the bead comes straight off (which annoys the hell outta me)-- BASE #1182 Muff #3573 PFI #52; UK WSI #
