katzurki 0 #1 August 14, 2006 There was a sale going on, so I upgraded from a tired Hornet 170 on which I'd put 100 jumps to a brand new Vision 168 for about $150. I double-checked with the dealer to see if it was a Vision with the new specs; he claimed Aerodyne said it was. However, after I got the canopy and checked the S/N with Aerodyne, it turned out it wasn't. There was a bit of a hassle to find out whose mistake it really was, but in the end Aerodyne promptly sent me a new lineset, for which I'd like to thank them. Relined, the canopy improved tenfold, most noticeably in the flare department. My landings have improved significantly, to the point I don't have to do any running on hot no-wind days. Before that, no wind meant no graceful landing, and at one point I had concluded I must truly be a poor pilot and considered swapping the canopy for something less hot, but no offer presented itself. Not to say I wasn't / ain't a poor pilot, but seeing how right now I have no issues landing the thing, it couldn't have totally been my fault. I feel the openings have become quicker / firmer, but nowhere near an issue. In a word, I got a brand new canopy of not the ugliest color pattern in the world at below $1000, and a spare lineset. No complaints here anymore, and thanks Aerodyne!
MB38 0 #2 August 15, 2006 Good on them, glad to hear it. How's the Vision fly at 1.3? Aerodyne's website seems to vaguely recommend a 1.6 loading [per the 'canopy selector' chart]. Just curious for curiosity's sake, I've yet to read much about it.I really don't know what I'm talking about.
katzurki 0 #3 August 15, 2006 Nothing short of great, for me, at my current level. I can't really give a fair comparison though. I think I'd be equally happy under any other modern 9-cell canopy, Pilot, Sabre2, whatever.

phoenixlpr 0 #5 August 15, 2006 What a hell are you doing under an elliptical canopy with 140 jumps???
JohanW 0 #6 August 15, 2006 C'mon guys, he's Russian .. anything goes They do things a little differently over there At least, that's the reasoning I seem to remember from another thread, involving this and another jumper from Russia. Katzurki, I don't know how to get through to you .. but we worry. Please don't end up a statistic.Johan. I am. I think.

kaerodyne 0 #8 August 16, 2006 I have been flying my Vision 124 for the past three years, and still enjoy the canopy, the openings are great (I'm partial to a left turn on opening, but it's me makes no difference what canopy). The general flight characteristics are excellent. Front riser pressure is medium, and it has a good recovery arc, and flies nice on rear risers. The bottom end flair could be a tad better, but maybe I'm getting to old for lazy to take a few steps. In all I think the Vision is a very under rated canopy on the market. PS: I was jumping one before I worked for Aerodyne, so this is a non biased opinion.

MB38 0 #10 August 16, 2006 QuoteAnd you should not.Trust me, that's why I was clear that it's for curiosity's sake. I want nothing to do with elliptical canopies for a long time, if ever. I just didn't want to be that low-timer giving somebody else shit for jumping a canopy that they shouldn't be.I really don't know what I'm talking about. katzurki 0 #11 August 16, 2006 Did you know that technically your canopy is more elliptical than a Stiletto, or a Vision for that matter?
dragon2 2 #12 August 16, 2006 QuoteDid you know that technically your canopy is more elliptical than a Stiletto, or a Vision for that matter? Did you know that ellipticity doesn't really matter? A Velo is just about square I think A Vision is a hp canopy is not for beginners is a hp canopy ciel bleu, Saskia
MB38 0 #13 August 17, 2006 Touché. Replace "elliptical" with "unsuitable for my skill and experience levels".I really don't know what I'm talking about.

Mostly_Harmless 0 #15 August 17, 2006 I would like to know why you are jumping such an advance w/l'ing with so little jumps? If your profile is correct and you take a look at Brian G's w/ling chart you should be on a 230 not a 169._________________________________________ www.myspace.com/termvelocity
