I would also love to see more of China other than just HK. Time will tell. I had French in high school.. but cant speak it worth a damn, thru disuse I forgot most of it altho it did come in handy when I had to read signs on the road when I drove from Victoria to St Johns NF. At least the reading part of french was easier in Quebec than was the speaking part.....something about the accent I REALLLLLY didnt get. And France... I think they were offended I even tried.. especially in Paris. I also had Spanish in high school.. again reading it is far easier than trying to speak Castillian spanish in most places that speak spanish in the world. I am a dismal failure when trying to converse in Mexico altho I could manage fairly well with Cuban expatriates when I was stationed in Miami. In college I took Japanese since back in the 1980's the Japanese were leading the world in quite a bit of R and D so I figured that it would be a good language for a computer scientist. About all I can remember now.. again thru disuse... is moshi moshi and Ohayou gozaimasu or ie wakarimas( I dont understand) when I have to call the datacenter outside of Tokyo. Its always good to hear Japanese tourists here in Seattle tho... and I always try to torture them with really bad Japanese.. but hey at least I try and I think they like that. I dont know how I managed to stay totally shit faced for 10 days and remember so little about a trip..or who the hell I spent most of my time there with.....life before all the sexually transmitted diseases got lethal was a whole lot less complicated.
