ACMESkydiver 0 #2 June 11, 2007 Oh darn it. Funerals suck. I don't know anything about 'southern ettiquette' for funerals either, sorry. If a hug from a redhead with big boobies would help, I'll send it to ya via cyberspace Dave! ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. Thanatos340 1 #3 June 11, 2007 Absolutely. It is to offer comfort to those that lost someone. When my father passed away, I remember being in a complete daze until after the funeral. I remember walking into my moms house and there was more food spread around than I had ever seen. It all just seem to magically appear. Most all it home cooked and welcome at the time. I know neither my mother or I had eaten in days and we hadn’t even realized it. I don’t know if it is just a southern thing or not. I thought it was common at all funerals. Yup!I've never been to a Northern funeral, but in the South that's definitely how we do it and for that reason, as well as to provide grub for everyone so the immediate family did not have to worry about such things.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. BelskyBlueEyes 0 #6 June 11, 2007 I'm from NJ, so I believe the practice of bringing food is common no matter where you live. In fact, my mom had a particular coffee cake recipe she would make and bring. It was always appreciated. (and very delicious).
Nightingale 0 #7 June 11, 2007 I don't know about the south, but in CA, usually if you go to the home of the family, you bring food. You don't bring it to the funeral itself.

Damn, you have to wait for someone to die before you can have some coffee cake......and if your the dead one, you will be waiting a long time!
