ajs339 0 #1 November 21, 2009 Hi all, I earned an A license 10 years ago and haven't jumped since. What are the requirements to become current? I've googled and forum searched with no luck. Thanks.
GLIDEANGLE 1 #2 November 21, 2009 Here is a good place to start: http://www.uspa.org/SIM/Read/Section5/tabid/168/Default.aspx#970The choices we make have consequences, for us & for others!
BillyVance 34 #3 November 21, 2009 How many jumps did you make before you stopped? Whatever it is, 10 years is still a long time. Refer to the link provided in the 2nd post."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
JDutton 0 #4 November 21, 2009 GlideAngle just beat me to the punch. I have just started skydiving again after 33 years. I'd recommend visiting a local DZ and talking to an S&TA. I had to take a first jump course, but have advanced rapidly through the student program. Its great to be back. Good luck!
ajs339 0 #5 November 21, 2009 Wow, what a busy and helpful forum. I've emailed afew area DZs for details as well. I had less than 30 jumps at a very small defunct DZ and never felt confident in most aspects. I guess I wanted to avoid a complete retraining course with the time and expense, but of course safety must be first. Thanks again.

If you didn't feel confident then I would strongly suggest you plan on starting from square one. You will probably progress through the student progression more quickly. With such a long layoff and not many jumps, I would bet that any dropzone is going to require you take the entire first jump course. Also, it is possible that you will be required to do most, if not all, of the student program/jumps. There are no BSR's(basic safety requirement) pertaining to recurrency but the SIM outlines recommendations for recurrency. Because of this, it will vary from DZ to DZ what is required to become current. Give the DZ's a call.
