Slappie 9 #1 June 1, 2007 That's right, I saw this online and decided to share it with my fellow degenerates! Answering as close as I could I ranked in the 52nd percentile. That puts me in the upper middle class. I sure as hell don't feel like upper middle class! So where do you RANK? SpeedRacer 1 #9 June 1, 2007 not sure how to calculate the last category. do i include the $ in my 401K, even though I don't have access to it until I'm 65? I've only paid off a tiny % of the value of my house, but it has gone up in value since I bought it. If I sold it today I could probably get around $60,000 more than I paid for it. do I count that as part of my wealth? You would include only the equity in your house, and your 401k is counted since it's actually part of your net worth. Include any other property, paid off vehicles. Only stuff of value. Then the kicker is take that amount, then subtract all your debt from that amount and you've got your net worth. A lot of people forget to subtract their debt and only count what they "own" "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." SpeedRacer 1 #11 June 1, 2007 well, if the increase in value over time of my house can get included as "equity" than I'm doing alright. Speed Racer --------------------------------------------------

Slappie 9 #17 June 1, 2007 Yea I think what's keeping me out of a higher percentile is my job prestige and my education. My income and net worth were both in the upper percentile. This is some NYT Flash applet too. So it's only based upon the script writers specifics. It's not a true gauge of ones socioeconomic status in society. Or is it? Am I really that bad off? I think I'm having a small breakdown as I realize I'm a worthless bum! headoverheels 333 #24 June 1, 2007 Y'all did notice that the wealth data is for 2001, and the income data was compiled from 2000 and 2003 didn't you? 90th, after adjusting income/wealth to what it was in those years. Interestingly, Engineering Manager ranks slightly lower than Engineering. That's okay, I'll take the prestige hit in favor of a few bucks.
