wildfan75 1 #4 May 30, 2007 At least you got Dell to ship you a computer. More than I could get them to do for me! http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2597818;#2597818
DontPanic 0 #5 May 30, 2007 QuoteBrand new Dell Is it new enough to just send it back to them, and get your money back? Then you could buy another one with XP. And when you say you have all the disks, does that mean you have an extra XP CD (and license key)?

I don't know why anyone would actually want to do that, tho.

DontPanic 0 #10 May 30, 2007 Quote Format C: There something to be said for this answer. But, if there is too much data for this to be the answer, than I'd just get a second hard-drive, and install WinXP on the second hard disk, leaving the first hard disk alone. If you're not comfortable opening your box and putting in a second hard-disk, then you probably don't want to be playing with re-partitioning either. In fact, the first time you play around with re-partitioning should be on a box that you don't mind trashing if something doesn't work out.
hookitt 1 #11 May 31, 2007 Put the CD in the drive. Start the computer... hit F12. Select CD. Enter. Hit any key. Enter. F8. D. Enter. L. C. Enter. quick format. Enter... then follow the instructions after it restarts That's off the top of my head so I may have missed something. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... dorbie 0 #13 May 31, 2007 Call them up and say you never wanted vista, that you insist on XP. If they refuse return the system, insist on getting an RMA number. Any problems simply dispute it using your credit card. Heck call up your CC company and ask them how to go about returning the system to their satisfaction. Your credit card gives you a lot of power to push back against shysters. Just don't waste time doing this, that's the one thing you can't do.
