BirdBabe1 0 #7 December 11, 2006 It was a well made movie for sure. I knew it was going to be graphic. I thought maybe I could "close my eyes" for a sec if I wanted to, but it was graphic from start to finish. Except for the first, two scenes, the entire movie was negative & depressing. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Go see "The Holiday" or something lighthearted.

PLFXpert 0 #9 May 29, 2007 Quote Sick to my stomach, thanks to Apocalypto. Me, too! Literally. It just released on DVD this past week and Netflix sent it right out to us. From start to finish I felt like I was going to throw up. It wasn't the gore in and of itself so much as it was that coupled with the emotion. The emotion involved and not being able to relax for even a brief second was too much for my belly. I never did vomit, but I'm certain I would have felt much better if I could. I mean that seriously. I felt sick the whole time, though I couldn't close my eyes or turn my head. The only part I did not watch was just after the jaguar mauled one of the "bad guys". Those who've seen it know what happens next and as strange as it sounds I watched the rest, but could not watch that part.As opposed to Olivia, though, I WOULD recommend this movie. It was EXTREMELY well-done and unlike anything I'd seen before, which was ironically refreshing. I REALLY appreciated the very beginning. In just a short few minutes, the audience was already given enough information to care about the initial characters & appreciate their way of life and respect for everything. And what I loved most was how unknowingly prophetic this tribe was to what has indeed evolved to be our world today. The conversations, the stories, everything. Thank goodness for the beginning of this movie. It was so necessary. What I mean by that, is so many movies today I can watch from the middle to end and not be lost, still have enough info to figure things out, care or not care about the characters and still understand the meaning (or often lack thereof). W/out the beginning to this movie, however, the rest of it would be almost meaningless. I love that.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. willard 0 #10 May 29, 2007 It is one of the most violent movies I can remember watching, but remember....it was a very brutal and violent civilization. I would recommend the movie to anyone old enough to understand the plot and a strong stomach. Mel did a great job on this one.

The torture scenes in that movie were gut-wrenching and very realistic looking. I will be watching Apocalyto when it comes out on DVD."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
PLFXpert 0 #12 May 29, 2007 Quotebut remember....it was a very brutal and violent civilization. Oh, I absolutely expected it to be violent. I wasn't expecting it to be a constant struggle, one thing after another, after another, after another, not even a second to take a deep breath and exhale. So many details to pay attention to and pick up on. It's not just about blood & gore; every detail was well-thought & interesting to pick up on. I remember reading an article back when the movie first came out that historians were quite pleased with the film's degree of accurate representation of this ancient civilization. And the acting, of course, was fantastic! I was pretty surprised I was that interested in the movie the entire time. I'm not usually a fan of violent &/or gory films. I'm not even a huge fan of action/adventure (though there are plenty exceptions I really enjoyed).Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. gonzalesna 0 #13 May 30, 2007 I watched it this weekend... I friggin' loved it! I thought it was a great flic! Mel did a great job portraying the brutality that existed within that culture. Don't see it if you don't like gore, but if you've got the stomach, DEFINATELY see it!!!Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.
