Zep 0 #1 May 27, 2007 Not shure if this belongs in the Barnfire as a joke or SC as serious shit. But I read that Dell has teamed up with Wall-Mart to sell program bundeled low end PC's as an attempt to bolster flagging sales against HP. Call me a sceptic but the first thing I envisage is Dell winning millions from their rakeoff of the calls made to outscoured service centers Who the hell buys a Dell? Gawain 0 #2 May 27, 2007 I felt the same way, until I saw my wife's Dell crap out, and the then-$90-extended warranty (full eq. coverage) she bought for it three years ago replace her hard-drive...I mean a guy drove 70 miles from Nashville, came to our home, and replaced the HD himself. I was impressed anyway. As to your post, the winner in this one is Dell initially. Wal-Mart is buying who-knows-how-many units. The Dell that I use was given to me, and I've been impressed. Having said that, it's MS Windows that I grow weary of. In another couple years or whenever I'm ready to replace it, I'm thinking of joining the Apple ranks. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! PikzeeVikzen 0 #4 May 27, 2007 go MAC! My hubby has a Dell that is nothing more than a POS and it was a higher end model. I have a lower end model Apple and wouldn't trade it for the world. I'm the twist that turns your key....
MrBrant 0 #5 May 27, 2007 I've also been very happy well Dell's service. I didn't buy any of the extended crap, but I broke my screen a bit the first year, and called the warrenty dept. they paid for overnight shipping both ways. I called them Tuesday, Wednesday, I sent the computer to a Selectron plant in Ontario (they have the canadian service contracts). It arrived there Thursday - they replaced the screen, shipped it back, and I received it Friday morning. I was impressed. Although I wonder how their service will be now that Solectron has closed almost all their Canadian plants.....
PhreeZone 20 #6 May 27, 2007 Dell is also moving to sell via the partner channels so look for all sorts of crazy marketing to be coming out in the future on that from resellers. Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com

All my company (software development) buys are Dells and we've had very good luck - the Compaq (aka. HP) that was my personally machine was a total junk box. We just replaced it with a Dell. Although my hubby has a mac at work and loves it for the graphics work he does, for the money and limited software, its not worth it; IMO. denete 3 #10 May 28, 2007 My game computer is a Dell. I got it used for $75 off Craig's List. It works very well, and hasn't given me trouble. My wife has an HP. She's not happy with their customer service at all. Of course my other computers are Macs. They keep me happy. I've been running the one I'm using right now (PowerbookG4) pretty much non-stop for 3 years straight now. It hasn't even had the first problem. I still have dual-core envy though.SCR #14809 "our attitude is the thing most capable of keeping us safe" (look, grab, look, grab, peel, punch, punch, arch)

I have an Dell Inspiron E1505 with Vista Ultimate. The computer is just fine although, I'm not at all impressed with Vista. I would had gone with a Mac but, the bulk of the programs I run are not compatible. The kick in the head with Vista is that some of these programs have compatibility issues with Vista. Glad I kept my old IBM thinkpad with XP (need to upgrade the HD from the old 5.1gb to a 120gb in order to install all of my programs)."...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black."
