I didn't know the cycle for these insects was so long, but apparently this summer is going to be a big one for the Cicada.

They state: 17 years but, I seem to move or have large commutes that find that area's "17th year" all the time.
At least while going to a "Breakfast Ride/Poker Run" They guy way ahead of me discovered the swarm across the freeway. It was a good thing that I still wear full face when hitting the hiway for 40+mile events. (the other guy had no more than sunglasses on.)

I remember looking down from rock walls in the Shawangunks in 1978 above huge, thick, red clouds of them. I would hate to have tried to fly through them.
