matt1215 0 #1 May 20, 2007 So I started taking Zoloft about a week ago, Celexa for about 3 weeks before that, switched b/c of nasty jitters. Found myself in a bad fucking place that I'm still working my way out of with counseling & meds. Celexa half-way worked and the transition was/is really vicious . At this point, I'm undecided whether a particular side-effect of Zoloft is a blessing or a curse. I spent 3 hours masturbating this morning, got numb without getting off. On one hand, lasting that long was amazing, unheard of for me . On the other hand, it'd be really nice to bust my nut and not be a walking erection . I guess on the bright side, my thoughts have shifted from really disturbing shit to blowing my wad . Working on it, slowly but surely .
kbordson 8 #2 May 20, 2007 Sorry that life wasn't as nice and meaningful as it could be.... I'm glad you're getting the help to improve the situation. But, remember, it might take up to 6wks to truly make a difference in your perceptions. Give it time and don't do anything bad with this new burst of life.... maybe masturbate more. I think I may just have to invest another 3 hours tonight. I felt a bit strange a couple days ago, getting to sleep really late b/c I decided to rub one out before bed . stitch 0 #6 May 20, 2007 Try lithium. At least it stopped all the twitching for me for a while. "No cookies for you"- GFD "I don't think I like the sound of that" ~ MB65 Don't be a "Racer Hater"
iluvtofly 0 #7 May 20, 2007 I'm currently on celexa. I don't know about you but it reaked havok on my stomach the first few days I was on it. I know what you mean about getting the jitters from it. I tend to shake my legs uncontrollably. Most of the time I don't even realize I'm doing it until someone asks me if I'm nervous or something. It also tends to make me drowsy during the day. So I know what you're going through. The side effects deffinately suck but they're better then some of the alternatives I was thinking about before going on it. matt1215 0 #8 May 20, 2007 It did the same to me. Actually Zoloft turns my stomach worse. I took the Celexa longer than my therapist advised. She told me that jitters shouldn't last that long, that I should try something else. It was good to be able to sit still again, but the stuff was starting to work . So far, I really don't like the Zoloft. I know a week's not enough to feel it out, but.... Anyone who's taken Zoloft, guys in particular. Do the sexual side effects decrease over time? squirrel 0 #9 May 20, 2007 i took prozack after my wife passed away...it really did nothing for me, except make me stay up all night, and gave me dry mouth. where ever you are now, you will move on, you will change, it may not be the change you exactly want, but, time passing is acutally a good thing, in my opinion. ________________________________ Where is Darwin when you need him? Squeak 17 #10 May 20, 2007 I want to say Cheer up folks, look on the bright side, every cloud has a silver lining. I want to say that but I wont because Depressions is a serious disease. And some might think me callous and rudeNo really it it is, hope yo sort your meds out, it may not be a clever thing to do life threatening shit, whilst you are adversely effected by your med too You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?
matt1215 0 #11 May 20, 2007 Thanks Squeak. Getting my meds sorted out is a must, tho I'm largely trusting the counselor and advice of people who have been there. Actually, a big part of why I've stayed with skydiving has to do with its medicinal effects. No matter how the dive doesn't go as planned or how badly I screw up my landing, I'm still heading into the hanger with an ear to ear grin. When I don't make the dropzone due to depression, it's because I just didn't find the motivation to get up and out.

PrairieDoug 0 #18 May 20, 2007 For clinical depression with a biological component, "thinking like a soldier" is simply not effective by itself. However, I agree that being determined to move forward is part of the solution, in combination with whatever treatment is recommended by a medical professional. That's based on personal experience.
