iluvtofly 0 #4 May 16, 2007 I would but they have that stupid rule about tattoos that doesn't make any sense. I mean they test the blood anyway. And any disease that I would happen to get from the tattoo I'm going to still have it a year later so what's the difference?

I suspect that some diseases aren't detectable in the blood for awhile (possibly up to a year), e.g. if they're not testing for a virus, but rather the antibodies to the virus, they have to give your body time to form those. BillyVance 34 #6 May 16, 2007 I would, but the one time I did, it knocked me down for a month. It felt like I had something sapping my strength the whole time. Although, I was told that the red cross has reduced it from a year to 6 months (like with piercings). I'm the twist that turns your key....

I'd be dried up if I did that.I HATE giving on fridays because I jump on the weekends but blood donation doesn't much affect me. aphresis is something I won't do before I have to exert myself. BTW, Friday is my day to donateMy photos My Videos
kelel01 1 #11 May 16, 2007 As long as the piercing was done at a clean, reputable shop, and not with a rusty safety pin, there's no waiting period anymore - otherwise I'd never be able to donate. And I believe you're correct about the tattoo waiting period being reduced.

jtval 0 #15 May 16, 2007 so, because one person messed up you don't donate? I can't say I totally blame you but for someone who used to donate whenever they were near a place ti seems you finally found a place not to return to. did you ever find out why you passed out?My photos My Videos
Acensky 0 #16 May 17, 2007 Sometimes they don't like me. They have a hard time finding a vein. Most of the time they take it from my wrist. I like to give blood, I feel like shit right after but the days after I have so much energy. Its crazy! HeatherGarbage bags do not make good parachutes. jtval 0 #24 May 17, 2007 THey (almost)always use it. most of the time its on someone youve never met. IAn, I have only gone to the same place a few times. I started giving 7 years ago on a fairly regular basis. I would assume it's been about 35-40 times. that puts 184 in perspective, for me. Congrats. My photos My Videos
IanHarrop 42 #25 May 17, 2007 In Canada collection of blood is done by one organization country wide and it is strictly on a volunteer basis. http://www.bloodservices.ca/"Where troubles melt like lemon drops, away above the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me" Dorothy
