jacco 0 #2 September 8, 2006 The reserve opens and the RSL is left dangling on your back. Just take a look at the setup of your Javelin, imagine pulling the reserve and you'll see what I mean. J.
Andybilly 0 #3 September 8, 2006 Could there be any problems if you didn't disconnect the RSL
dragon2 2 #4 September 8, 2006 QuoteCould there be any problems if you didn't disconnect the RSL Uhm might I suggest a talk wih you instructor, or even better, a rigger? If you jump with a rsl, go take a good look on how it's set up on your rig. ciel bleu, Saskia
rigger_john 0 #5 September 8, 2006 QuoteCould there be any problems if you didn't disconnect the RSL If you open your reserve, the RSL will stay conected to your main, however it will no longer have any conection to the reserve system, as the only point of contact is where it connects to the reserve ripcord, which isn't there anymore. (I'm not talking about a skyhook here) So even if your main subsequently comes out it should just fall away behind you. This is of course assuming you cutaway your main. the one exception to this system that I am aware of is the Jump Shack double sided RSL. With the Jump Shack system a main deployment after the reserve with the RSL still connected can cause problems. I see you jump at Weston, talk to Apples or Fordy this week end._________________________________________ Nullius in Verba
riggerrob 643 #6 September 8, 2006 During TSO drop tests, manufacturers are required to deploy reserves several times with main containers still closed. They also have to deploy reserve via RSLs and without RSLs. In the end, they have to prove that main components - including RSLs - cannot impede reserve deployment.
