Douva....I bet you still have no idea why you skydive...and probably never will. Its sad really.
Pretty much why i started ignoring his posts about halfway down the first page. Most others have been supportive with the replies left...which goes alot further. Even to give constructive critisism...at least do it without insulting the person...sheesh.
Are you ignoring my posts because you mistakenly think something I said was meant to insult you or because my posts hit a little too close to home?
Receiving responses that are 90% supportive doesn't mean your mental state is healthy--You posted your dilemma in a forum for like-minded people. There are forums online where posters support each other's addictions to drugs, violence, and deviant sexual behavior. Finding the support of a large group of like-minded people doesn't mean the path down which you're traveling is any less dangerous.

I don't think he was trying to be insulting... (ok, so mabye saying "you're creeping me out" can be construed as maybe a little insulting) but he was just giving you the perspective of someone with a lot of experience about maintaining balance.
I still love the sky, but I only have 140ish jumps. Others that have thousands of jumps still love the sensation (my coach had 16thousand... and he still loved it) It's not a matter of the absolute number It's more about how your perception might change. If you're driven and work hard to excel at your area... and then get frustrated with competition, or if you try and have difficulty meeting your personal goals or if you find something different in life... all of those can affect your perception of the "sport."
If you just enjoy life for every breath that you are blessed with.... the excitement never fades.

I took it as an insult. I have worked in the customer service field for over 10 years now...i can tell constructive criticism and an insult. I didnt get to where im at today by complaining when someone doesnt agree with me. I have balance in my life...i was just stating that the absence of skydiving sucks...speaking on my own behalf....once started. In no way was i implying that everyone should feel like i do...even though some of the people replying in this thread do feel the same. And now you talk about my mental state....haha..i find that to be funny. Specifically how you can make that "assumption" without knowing me on a day to day basis. Very few people on this board know me outside of the skydiving world to even remotely make any assumptions about me. Granted..i havent been in sport long enough to meet most of the people that post here regularly..but that will change when i my superiors get off their ass and get the paperwork done that i need to get the money that im entitled to..which in turn will make it ALOT easier to get out to different dz's and meet more people and chill more. Ok..im ranting now...

i know how you feel dude... it's been since october for me and i spent this past weekend watching everyone else jump while i stood on the ground in my BRAND NEW tonysuit becuse there was no gear available for me to jump. Due to the winters up here I'm forced to take long breaks and it really bums me out. life just feels like a waste of time and I'd give anything just to smell some jetfuel. You're definately not alone and as you can see there's always someone that's going to tell you you're crazy but who really cares what those people have to say? I openly admit to being crazy and I see no problem with it.
Skydiving is to me what crack is to a whore. I NEED MY FIX BITCH!
well...as most know my apartment is always open to people that are up north that cant jump...that want to come to florida to jump. i cant..but it would make me feel better to help someone else out that cant jump due to weather. The weather here is BEAUTIFUL...which just makes it worse that i cant jump...grrrr...

You know, Douva has a point.
If skydiving means so much to you, quit your job, cash the retirement money, max out the credit cards, move to dz and skydive (and you will not be the first person to make a move like that). You will get a lot of supporting comments here but they will not solve the problem. Its a matter of simple difference between talking the talk and walking the walk.

Illinois needs a CCW Law. NOW.
If it was that easy..it would be done.

I does suck spending 5 days of the week waiting for two. Then if miss it that weekend I'm just not ready to face Monday. Try some other adrenaline, like skateborading. Some little rush to tie you over.
well..i play hockey...but it will never match the feeling i get when jumping.
