A few of our current post whores were complaining about the moderation of this site back in the day on rec.sky when it was still an active group. DZ.com started up and I lurked this place from the very start.

I registered when I was looking for advice on buying my first RW suit, and got hooked when I asked about where to skydive in SoCal cause I had a business trip down there (when I had a real job) and the Wondrous Emily extended an invitation to Perris.

This site really did impact my life. I've met the very bestest people here.

It was wierd. I was in Sweden, videoing the Herc Boogie, and this German guy introduced himself and said "You are the Deuce, ya?" Me: "Yep" Kraut: "I have seen pictures of your children. Wait. You posted pictures of your children and I saw them, yes? On Dropzone.com, yah? Uh...."

Me: "Yeah. Chill, Gunter. Why is beer so expensive in Sweden?"

Krautster: "Ach! You should buy your beer in Deutchland before boarding the ferry!"

(Finn who knows me from DZ.com shows up with Salmniaki and saves the day)

I stayed in England at reduced rates and for free due to DZ.com.

I found DZ.com back in 2002. I had just really started jumping, and found the pictures first.... the forums later.... Ahhhh.... the days of Talk Back!

I can almost say the same thing about this site.
during the building phase their was lots of love to be passed around. now, there are too many asholes posting on a regular basis for me.


I still check the photog, incident, wind tunnel, places to jump forums but there are too mnay nit picking assholes in this forum specifically bu hey get into all of them...

I can't speak for ALL the assholes, but I certainly do.

Looking up my old dropzone for interest sake and I stumbled upon this. Never in my life took part in a discussion forum before I came here. Saw some but thought no fucking way, these guys live to fight online. Even when you factor in Speakers Corner, the conversation here is much more civil than anything else I have looked at.

My biggest handicap is that sometimes the hole in the front of my head operates a tad bit faster than the grey matter contained within.

I broke my back. Seriously. I broke my back BASE jumping and was in a body cast for 3 months, during which time the only position that was not excruciatingly painful was laying on my stomach in bed. I had a laptop with a wireless connection, and after watching every available episode of The Sopranos and Sex and the City, I was so bored that I started googling random things, and then started reading this random skydiving site.
