livendive 8 #62 May 8, 2007 I was on rec.skydiving and Sangiro would post about his Synergy. Of course it might also have been random websurfing or shopping/selling gear...I don't really remember. livendive 8 #63 May 8, 2007 QuoteA few of our current post whores were complaining about the moderation of this site back in the day on rec.sky when it was still an active group. DZ.com started up and I lurked this place from the very start. I was one of them. While I still think this site is often over-moderated, rec.skydiving has degenerated to almost useless. In other words, it's better than the alternative. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" (drink Mountain Dew)
livendive 8 #64 May 8, 2007 Quote Quote My AFFI recommended it to me... thats a nice twist, usually it DZ.commers recommending you talk to your instructors.. Or instructors telling our students not to listen to a single solitary thing they read here with checking with us first. Luckily, mine have mostly been good about that. livendive 8 #67 May 8, 2007 Quote I registered when I was looking for advice on buying my first RW suit, and got hooked when I asked about where to skydive in SoCal cause I had a business trip down there (when I had a real job) and the Wondrous Emily extended an invitation to Perris. This site really did impact my life. I've met the very bestest people here. It was wierd. I was in Sweden, videoing the Herc Boogie, and this German guy introduced himself and said "You are the Deuce, ya?" Me: "Yep" Kraut: "I have seen pictures of your children. Wait. You posted pictures of your children and I saw them, yes? On Dropzone.com, yah? Uh...." Me: "Yeah. Chill, Gunter. Why is beer so expensive in Sweden?" Krautster: "Ach! You should buy your beer in Deutchland before boarding the ferry!" (Finn who knows me from DZ.com shows up with Salmniaki and saves the day) I stayed in England at reduced rates and for free due to DZ.com. Thanks Sangiro! JP I had a hot chick come up to me at the dz last year and say, "Hey, you're Dave, aren't you?" "Uhh, yeah, who are you?" "Erin, from Montana" ... ... "Do I know you?" "You post as livendive, right?" "Oh shit...don't believe anything you read from me on there!" It turned out we'd actually met in a Skyvan at LP, when I was introducing one of my students (amyfiske on here) to the terror of her first jump away from home. I used the cute little AFF-L2 student next to us (jumping with Q) as calming evidence that it was just as safe there as at home. It really helped her stop shaking. Since the discussion noted above marked the second time we'd met in real life before I knew that she existed on here, I figure I don't owe HH any pimp fees.
