dropdeded 0 #1 April 20, 2007 This shit sucks. Im on "light duty" (office work) until Im cleared by a doc. I go in for a "surgery consult" next tuesday for an inguinal hernia I got a couple days ago at work. Once the repair is done I will be following Dr.'s orders and doing whatever I have to, so I can get back on the ambulance. I really dont like the indoor work life. Anyone thats had this deal and would like to pass on any tips for a speedy recovery, it would definately be appreciated. dropdeded------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
grue 1 #2 April 20, 2007 Been there, done that. Left side inguinal hernia from a congenital weakness in the wall. In any case, had laparoscopic surgery, was out of the hospital in under 4 hours, playing golf three days later, and back on the ice for hockey in a week. Have fun trying to sit up in bed for a couple days afterwards though. I suggest rolling over to the edge of the bed, rotating your body to put your feet and knees on the ground, then standing up that way.cavete terrae. willard 0 #5 April 20, 2007 Yep. Left side, repaired by laproscopic surgery. In the hospital at 6:00, back home by noon. Couple days of rest then was getting around pretty well. Within a week I was back to about 80%, back to 95% within two weeks. Quite honestly, except for the first few hours after waking up from the operation, the worst part was waiting for the surgery date. Follow Docs instructions for the quickest recovery. I take it you had the surgery? Yep, coughing hurts for a while. Keep a pillow handy and hug it into your gut like no tomorrow when you have to cough. It helps. I'd say go see a Dr. Or, every time I've been to jail they've checked tooMine was obvious. Big ass lump on the left side, especially after moving around a lot. Yeah, go see a Doc to find out.------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
