skybytch 273 #1 May 9, 2007 Spent my b-day weekend hiking in a little known wilderness area in NorCal. We went 48 hours without seeing another human , although we did see (and carry out) too much of other people's trash. Put those together and you get the reason why I'm not gonna post where we were! Here's some pics - 007 is a madrone tree that got burnt in a fire a few years ago. The new bark looks like poured hot wax or plastic. Really cool. 015 is part of the cloud we were hiking into on the first day. 027 is Molly the watchdog at a lunch break. 032 is the view from the tent. 034 - New life from the ashes! A baby pine tree grows in the middle of a tree that burned down.
skybytch 273 #2 May 9, 2007 More pics - 003 is the ridge on the other side of the valley, this time without the clouds 009 is Molly being an agility dog over one of the MANY treefalls on the trail. 013 - lupine on the side of the trail 014 is the back view of one fine hikin' chick 016 - more scenery

jceman 1 #5 May 9, 2007 Very kewl, Lisa. Molly looks to be in fine fettle. Give her an ear rub from us. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?
JohnRich 4 #6 May 9, 2007 QuoteSpent my b-day weekend hiking... I really enjoy your hiking stories and photos. It looks like you got way above sea level for this trip. Quote007 is a madrone tree that got burnt in a fire a few years ago. The new bark looks like poured hot wax or plastic. Really cool. Wow. I've seen a lot of madrone trees, with "bark" in shades of red, orange or pink. But I've never seen one that dark red before. And the contrast with the black burned bark is amazing. Good photo.
