quade 4 #29 July 31, 2006 They should be available in the U.S. within the year. (Actually, if you know the right people, you can get them in the U.S. right now. There are several and various models driving around in Irvine, California.)quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

quade 4 #31 July 31, 2006 QuoteA 1953 Chevrolet Corvette with a "Blue Flame" 6 cylinder. Historically "interesting" but from what I understand, not all that great of a ride for the $1,000,000 you'd end up paying for it!quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Icon134 0 #32 July 31, 2006 I've been trying to think about this... before I posted... unfortunately I can't settle on one... I had a friend in HS that had a 1968 Chevy Camaro... I thought it was a sharp looking auto... so that's what I'm gonna pick... although I do like the styling of the mid 1950's corvettes as well... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... JENNR8R 0 #33 July 31, 2006 The '57 Chevy convertible is my favorite because of who was behind the wheel, not because of what was under the hood. I loved the bench seats that allowed me to sit in the middle and put my hand on my boyfriend's thigh muscle. I don't know why they don't make bench seats any more. He had a white restored Chevy, and he loved that thing. One day we went to the bowling alley on a date. When we came back out, the car was gone. A juvenile escapee from a detention center cut the rag top, got inside, and hot wired it. He took the police on a merry chase across three counties before he wrapped the car around a tree. My boyfriend had to pay an exorbitant one-block towing charge before he could get it back. It was totaled, and was only insured for the Blue Book value. The juvenile could not be held responsible because he was a minor. His "baby" was totally gone in an instant.
quade 4 #34 July 31, 2006 As valid a reason as anything! When I see people get misty-eyed over an old car, I love trying to figure out what is the motivation. Usually it's the result of 1 of 2 things; they're either reliving the past or thinking about the past that never happened (something denied them in their youth). Either case is perfectly understandable.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

JerryBaumchen 1,364 #46 August 1, 2006 Hi kelel01, They are called Speedsters; were made back in the late '50's and maybe as late as 1960. Yes, they all had that bump in the front. I'm not an expert but I do know a fair amount about 356 Porsches; owned two of them. Jerry
racer42 0 #47 August 1, 2006 One of my very favorites was a 1979 canary yellow Cadillac Coupe de Ville. It weighed about 4,500lbs had a 425 , V8 ( the little Cadillac motor) and got maaaybe 8 mpg everywhere, even sitting in the driveway. JerryBaumchen 1,364 #48 August 1, 2006 Hi JENNR8R, Since you did not clarify as to now or in the past; but you did indicate a car in your past. I wrote an article for a NW auto magazine last year listing the three cars from my past that I should have kept: 1932 Ford 5-window - my Senior yr in high school 1957 Chevy, black 2-dr hardtop, stick w/overdrive - bought when I got out of the service 1965 356C Porsche coupe - bought when I got out of college Today I drive a '97 BMW 840Ci, an unbelievable car.
