I generally don't have problems with good cops... its the "bad" cops that scare me... or at least anyone that has too much of an ego and carries a gun... airdvr 210 #3 May 5, 2007 Here in Ohio our State Troopers are notorious for their "fund raising" activities. Sure they have a safety purpose but I've never been able to understand how hiding on a freeway (the safest road for travel) accomplishes anything. They ought to be focusing on 2 lane highways which are statistically the most deadly. There's a tiny suburb of Cleveland called Linndale. Linndale owns some 400' of I-71. They use it exclusively to fund their city coffers. I could go on and on. swedishcelt 0 #4 May 5, 2007 It is a service profession. You have good policemen and bad policemen. Such is humanity. Do we need a governing force on the highways to keep order? I would say yes. I know two years ago when my car broke down on the side of the road late at night and a car of college age men pulled over and when they approached me and told me if I blew them they would make sure I got home safe, I was pretty f'n grateful to see those flashing lights. On the other hand, I have been pulled over going the speed limit and ticketed by mistake because the car that had just passed me was the same make and model. Go figure. You just can't judge people by separate incidents. If I did that I would be a hermit.

HeadCone 0 #6 May 5, 2007 They serve a good purpose, but they're all business. If you're going 80 in a 65, you're taking your chances no matter what the normal speed is or how many cars are around you. I've been in a similar situation and it sucks ass. But, if they didn't do that, people would really drive like assholes (even more than they do now). --Head-- Turn off the internet!
