Newbie 0 #1 May 3, 2007 I have heard of Management accountancy but not "technical accounting" as a term before. Can someone - preferably in the trade - give me a run down of what it is, and some examples etc? Thanks "Skydiving is a door" Happythoughts

skytash 0 #5 May 3, 2007 not sure if this is what is meant, in the accountancy firm I used too work in there was a technical department who specialised in interpreting the laws and guidelines for individual cases. Some clients wanted to stay within the law but just right at the edge of it and the technical department would help with the interpretation. Some of them were people with law and accounting training/experience. tashDon't ever save anything for a special occasion. Being alive is a special occasion. Being creative requires good technical knowledge. Knowledge of accounting standards and applying them to a situation is using technical knowledge. Accounting isn't as black and white as is commonly thought. Knowledge of the technical standards and applying them to gray areas correctly is a difficult thing to do at times.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
