Do you put your ketchup in the fridge?

Recommended Posts

For me, mayo goes in the fridge. Ketchup, mustard, and butter don't. Butter gets covered, it's just that it's easier to spread at room temperature. Or rather to be more accurate I keep one chunk at room temperature for easy access, and the rest is in teh fridge until the room temperature chunk is nearly depleted.

So how about you guys?

What about chocolate syrup, like Hershey's for ice cream?

Growing up and for most of my adult life it stayed in a cabinet somewhere. Only happened to notice a year or two ago that it says "refrigerate after opening."

I stopped eating ice cream about 6 months ago (because I'm not capable of moderation when it comes to ice cream) so it's not currently an issue, but it is one that perplexed me for some time.

If I had any, it'd be in the cabinet. Flows better at room temperature.

Mom put it in the fridge. So I developed a taste for it cold. Same goes for peanut butter (of course, now I buy Adams Natural PB, so I refrigerate to avoid having to remix the oil slick every time I want a knife full of peanut butter).

Most definitely. Mmmm...now I want some ice cream.

I don't use butter, and ketchup stays in the fridge because I too developed a taste for it cold, but I also don't use it often enough for it to stay good sitting out.

Ketchup, mayo, mustard and butter go in the fridge.

The last time I left butter out to "soften" in a Ziploc container, with a sealed lid, I came back to a clean counter with no Ziploc container. I thought I hadn't left the butter out. I thought I was crazy (comments are not necessary at this point).

About a week later, I was cleaning my living room and I moved the couch to vacuum. Found an empty (and very CLEAN) Ziploc container. Also found a LID for said container with teeth marks in it. My dear sweet dog ate the butter.

It's in the fridge from then on.

Weirdo, just move it to where the dog can't get it ;)

Weirdo, the dog is BIG enough to get to the back of the counter ...

He's 90lbs and about 2' at his shoulders (that's approximately 41kg and 60cm in your world).

:P:P;)

So put it on a shelf :P

Just have kids. The same thing will happen when they're young. :P I remember bites showing up in the stick of butter left on the table between meals. :D

Apparently Tomato sauce (ketchup) does not need to be refridgerated at all, the makers suggest it because some study determined that you are more likey to see it and use it (therefore buy more of it) if it's in the fridge, compared to the pantry

Where's Normiss? He has definite opinions on this and has posted about it before.

Yes, I put it in the fridge. I just read the other day that syrup should be in the fridge, that's something I have never done.
