The glass tubes that the liquid crystals reside in (just under the VERY flimsy plastic sheet (for all portable LCD's not just this product)) are very succeptable to breaking. Lost a couple of cell phones to the same thing. That's the nature of the beast. Thicker outer plastic wouldn't hurt, but it opens up a whole new can of worms with regard to cost, production, de-design, etc, blah blah blah. Mick.
