Without opening it, I'll say it can't be any worse than Twardowski.
:D:D

Ok...now I'll open it....

Oh shit...I take it back.

:D:D:D:P

Hey Jim, is Twardowski a Polish name? My wife was SOOO glad to get rid of her maiden last name - Harucki, when she married me. She was pissed off about all the mis-spellings on her mail. :D

No...it's Irish.

Use to be O'Twardowski, but we wanted to move farther back in the alphabet. :)

I fully support any woman not wanting to take her husband's name. There's no real "type" of woman who wouldn't as reasons for such can vary. And it's nothing personal.

I can tell you I would take his last name, but only b/c I'm not partial to my own last name, I LOVE my hunny's last name, and I like changing names in general (I sign up for everything under false names just for fun & in my own paranoid mind I'm safer from identity theft this way.:D)

I'd take his name. It'd probably be my only opportunity to be known by my neighbors as a "Fagot".

"Man, those Fagots sure have good taste."

"Those Fagots are f*ckin' good dressers."

"I heard those Fagots doin' it in the butt last night . . . it was really hot."

;)

Before he moved to the US, his last name was Upderpoopenshutz. :|

Really? You wouldn't be the only one I guess. I'm just curious about how other men feel about this. Me, I'm old fashioned so I believe in the whole name changing bit.

It didn't bother me in any way, or bother my parents. Her parents used to address her by my surname for the first few years, but finally got with the program.

When someone occasionally asked why we had different last names, her answer was "because we have different parents."

It's the 21st century...wives haven't been considered 'property' for what...like 20 years now!

It's not about being property brother. It's about old fashioned principle. Being part of a new family means that wife & kids have the same last name. It shows that your wife is proud to be your wife by donning your last name, is it not?

Whoa Nelly! WHO'S principle? I don't need some ancient ritual to prove my love for my husband. And neither did he. As a matter of fact HE said it would seem kinda weird if I suddenly had a different name, even if it was his. I also had made a name for myself in business. A business where work is submitted under your name, not in person. If someone wishes to change it, more power to them but not changing it is an equal choice. In regards to the children their legal names have both last names. For everyday use they have their choice since BOTH are legal.
If you can't live without me, why aren't you dead already?

Gee, I thought my wife was showing she was proud to be my wife...when she said YES! :S

I think that she was showing that she really had a soft spot for charity work:P:P
And she wanted to tag on to your AARP discounts:)

Get real dude, you're honestly telling me that you wouldn't give two shits if you got married and your wife didn't take on your last name?

Absolutely. Her name was cool enough for me to fall in love with her. It's cool enough for her to keep.

Edit to add: Google your name. View your life's achievements, publications, contributions you have made to our society. Now randomly change your name, and google again. If you just disappeared into a nobody, or someone you or your friends or your future employees don't even know - that's how it must feel.

It's a stupid tradition.

So would you care if your kids took your wife's name or would you want them to have your last name?

You could always take your wifes last name and join her family :)
