My day has finally arrived

Recommended Posts

In 2004, I made the decision to leave a job that, paid good but did not make me happy. I started back to school working on my degree and in August 2005, I was accepted in to nursing school. The last three years have been absolutely the most difficult in my life. I have worked 2 jobs averaging 60 hours a week, gone to school, clinicals, studied and still did my best to make time throughout the week for my 7 year old son. I think the hardest part of nursing school was the fact that I felt I was giving up time with my son, I felt selfish as if I wasn't being a good father to him.

Tonight, I took the first of two final exams, I got a 93. I take the second final exam on Monday. Right now I in the top 5 of my class as far as gpa goes. It's hard to express how I feel tonight, I cant believe this is almost over, I can't believe I am done. I've had a lot of support from people I have met on here along the way, and I wanted to say thanks for the encouragement and support.

yea, I'm damn proud of myself :)

Good for you man. You made it on your own steam! Congratulations! Now, you'll be on a different road, probably an even tougher one. Entry level nurses get the crappiest work schedules. Hopefully, you'll get a job with decent hours. Hang in there and good luck!

What's the most you ever lost in a coin toss, Friendo?

That's great! It's a lot easier to find reasons you "can't" than to put one foot in front of the other and do what you want to do. Good on you for all the hard work and making it happen. Congrats!

What kind of nursing are you gonna do?

:)

I'm going to be working in ICU I've narrowed it down to two offers and I should decide soon, both are very good hospitals.

Just goes to show that if you work hard, you can get to where you wanna be... and the harder it is to get there, the more you enjoy and appreciate your accomplishments.

Congrats brother.:)

Some people refrain from beating a dead horse. Personally, I find a myriad of entertainment value when beating it until it becomes a horse-smoothie.
