Twoply 0 #1 April 20, 2007 I've never been much into electronics. My friends bought me a dvd player because I was the one who said a vcr was good enough. I still can take it or leave it. My question is, If I'm getting a new tv, should I get one HD ready to be prepared for the future or just the old regular 36" tube they have at Best Buy? One Harley-Davidson should be sufficient for now, but you may find yourself wanting another one before too long. With a Harley you have no need for a TV. FlyingJ 0 #3 April 21, 2007 Don't waste your money. Sounds like you really don't care one way or the other, and by the time it gets to a point where HD is a must have there will have been so many changes that one you buy today will be completely outdated anyway.Killing threads since 2004. azdiver 0 #4 April 21, 2007 depends on weather you have several thou to waste, all the cables and acc. needed for a h def will be about as much as the tv. h def tv 2000 h def recv 350 h def dvd 500 cables 500 xbox or ps3 600light travels faster than sound, that's why some people appear to be bright until you hear them speak
BillyVance 34 #5 April 21, 2007 Right now, large flat screen TVs (not the thin sets you hang on walls) are affordable and gives a pretty good sharp picture. I have a 35 inch Sony flat screen TV and love it, despite it weighing some 160 lbs. You can get one like it for about $400 now."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
cameramonkey 0 #6 April 21, 2007 just make sure it is digital ready. doesnt have to be HD, just SD digital. that way if they ever get off thier asses and terminate the current analog TV signals we currently use, you wont have a paperweight (or a box that needs another gizmo to use the DTV signals) ( I havent seen a non digital TV in the past 6 mos, even at wally world.)Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO! Exactly right there. HD or not, atleast do yourself a favor a make sure its got a digital tuner. Most HD sets have this built in now-a-days anyway, so a "HD tuner" isn't necessary (for over the air HD or SD content). You will still need either a HD dish reciever, or a card from your cable company to unlock the cable tuner function. For all you out there wondering about this, Feb 19, 2009 is the analog broadcast cutoff date from the FCC. So if you still recieve over the air broadcast, you will need to upgrade one way or the other.
