The highest priority will always be the effort to stabilize the jumper and perform whatever first aid is needed before EMS gets there, If an S+TA can get out there after that, and perhaps take pictures, then great. That's secondary though. So is "saving gear." Gear can be replaced. One of the things that really irks me is the effort some first responders put into getting the gear off before EMT's get there, because "they'll just cut it." Heck yeah they will - because risking someone's spine is not worth saving a container.
juggalo 1 #27 October 9, 2009 Well yes first aid people should be first. Thats a given at least I thought. I was referring to the investigative process, not medical personal. I guess we were always fortunate to have a lot of trained med people at our DZ's. Plus we had Red Cross train a lot of our staff in first aid because we thought it was good to have as many trained people around as possible. Thanks for the reply. brewwaving off is to tell people to get out of my landing area
