I have a standing rule with people - unless someone has done something to harm me / or those close to me - I'm open to meeting anyone.

That's kind of what I was going to say...

The MOST important thing for me is to have friends that are for the most part upbeat and exude energy. A friend is someone who will smile with me. I can be ANYONE'S friend if they will just smile with me.

It's the energy vampires that I try to hide from. Y'know, no matter what is good, something has to be bad...no matter how positive you try to be, they have to point out the down side. The kind of person that, when asked, "Hey, how's it going?" 2 seconds later you immediately wish that you hadn't asked...

Hell everyone has bad days, and goes through crisis and tough times, and I still love them and that's not what I'm talking about...it's the eternal cynics (which embarrassingly enough I used to be one of ) that I don't want to be around. They eat the jelly right off my peanut-butter sammich!
