Melinda... she stands up there all timid then belts it out... that girl can sing!!! B|

I'm with you on Melinda Doolittle too. I don't know if Aretha would be able to do that song that well now.

The girls are kicking it to the boys..they'd better step up their game!

Oh and for extra points...Melissa looks like my sister-in-law that I can't get along with..I LOVE it..~~April

Which one is from the San Antonio area? I'm in San Antonio for business right now and today a few people were talking about someone local. I couldn't remember who they said it was though.

I only saw the very last girl and then the quick wrap-up. Looks like there are a few pretty good ones, but also a few that there is no doubt will go home pretty quickly.
Killing threads since 2004.

Sanjaya's a cute kid and has a nice voice but I agree with the judges, that song wasn't a good choice and he was singing really softly. I think his big problem is that he's shy...

I thought Sundance was awesome. Love that bluesy voice and it was so cute that he almost broke down crying when talking about missing his son's first smiles.

I agree. His big smile kills me everytime. He's a cutie. Sundance was great as well. He really turned it around this week.

I really think the guys stepped it up this week. None of them are on the level of some of the women though. Of the guys, I liked the beat box guy, the military guy, both Chris' and Sundance turned it around this week. I'm looking forward to the women tonight. At the risk of not being pc, I think they should send the white women home and keep the black women.

I agree. But if after the next challenge the women win immunity then none of them will going home. One of the men will, that is unless one of them find the hidden immunity idol.

I agree. Both of them are simply awesome singers and neither seems to have an attitude about themselves. I'd be very happy to see either one of them win the whole thing.

On another note, I can't believe I got sucked into the whole American Idol thing this season. >:(

You know you're just watching it to see what Paula does next.

Tonight she's really taunting gravity by standing up for every act. I also think they just gave up and brought her in on the barstool from where she's been all day. Isn't her chair a little high? :D:D~~April

IMO, it is officially the Melinda/Lakisha show. These two are clearly in a league of their own.

My choice for the top 12:

Women

The 5 black women
Gina. The one that sang 'Alone'.

Men

Beat Box guy
The 2 Chris'
Military guy with the cute wife
As for the 6th, I don't care.

I only been half-watching this season so I've missed alot. Funny, though--I'm not sad about it. :P

I just popped in to say, I watched from 8 to 9 p.m. last night which was enough time to catch Melinda Doolittle whom I remembered I LOVED from the auditions.

She is amazing!:)
:)
Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

You got that right! To me, she's the most impressive, yet!!!
As for the girl whose 'naughty' pictures got put on the web... she can go, any time! She's got a bit too much attitude and can't sing for crap.

Melinda was very good last night. I love her!! Like I said earlier..she looks JUST like my sister-in-law, if my sister-in-law KNEW how to SMILE.

We get a kick out of watching her here for that inside joke.

Muenkel, I'm not sure if its the 'black' thing, I think its more of a 'Church' thing. Those church girls REALLY throw down. I've gone to a few funerals where I forgot there was a body laying there and just grooved to the choir.

OH..and last note.I TIVO'D Melissa singing that song last week 'Since You've Been Gone (Why'd you do it, why'd ya have to do it'...) and I've played that back a few times....:)

I don't know if it's a black thing or what, but I watched it last night and there were four black girls that took off and left the rest. Melinda and Lakesha are like professionals in a group of amatuers. Don't remember their names, but the girl from Savannah, Ga. whose parents made her audition is really good, and the girl who looks like Gloria Estefan is too.
I think I'll watch it again in a few weeks after they're the only ones left.

its been a while since i expressed my views in this thread :)

quite honestly in my opinion these are the ones whom i think did the worst last night and the night before ... my vote for the four that are out are...

sanjaya - such a cute kid just poor poor song choice and i think it killed him

and i really did not care of jared - though this one i might be wrong on...

as far as the ladies go....

leslie hunt - ugh she sounded HORRIBLE
and
alaina - she was not on last night either

my favorites - beat box blake though i think that beat box will get him somehow
and holy crap i think chris robinson was AWESOME
girls i actually liked gina - but lakisha and melinda were amazing

And that's exactly what I said after her performance last night. I enjoyed the girl (Latisha?) before her--but then Melinda just blew her out of the water.

I think we've got a real race between Lakisha and Melinda. I don't know if you caught last week, but Lakisha edged out Melinda by an inch; while last night Melinda edged out Lakisha by an inch.

What I really like about these two ladies is what Skybytch said up above. They both are so extremely talented and yet they seem so humble about it. No egos, no 'Why are you ragging on me Simon?' after they hit maybe one note correctly. Just really likeable.
