I don't think it will be that bad. Just before the show ended they did the quick flash through all of the people that got passed on to the next round and we had never even seen most of them! Seems like they are filling "the preseason" with all the people that got booted and we won't see much of the good folks until they get to the second round.

I think, you're right about that. Idol has a reputation for trying to build suspense. Come to think of it, this is the way they've done it for five previous seasons.

Yeah they threw Jewel into the mix the first night. I actually thought I saw jealousy in her eyes with one or two of the contestants that were put thru to Hollywood. Imagine that, jealousy! The girl that "loved" Jewel, not sure why she didn't get put thru, she sounded just like her!!! LOLOLOL

I also think they throw in those extra judges to make the show seem more credible.

I agree. I really liked the Cartman guy and the other guy.

The other thing I was surprised at was how they tore up the girl who said her husband didn't support her but her son did. As they were going through her whole story I told my roommate "well, she has to be a good one. They wouldn't go all sentimental with a story like that and then have her suck and get made fun of." I was most definitely wrong!

This is not a talent show, this is a TV Show never forget that. TV shows live on ratings.

How does Idol get ratings? Showing America the most fucked up people they can find.

Biggest question you ask yourself while watching the auditions? "Did they really think they could sing?" The answer is no, most don't think they can. They just want to be on TV.

America is infatuated with TV and the people who are on it. I cannot believe the base intelligence in this great country. The rest of the world has a right to think America is a bunch of fatassed lazy, stupid bastards. Because, the American media makes it so on TV nightly with this trash.

Anyways, I'll admit it, I like the auditions and I'll probably tune in to watch the final 10 or so. Inbetween is bleh TV. :ph34r:

Hate Rosie all you want (and I'm not a fan either) but if Paula Abdul is going to appear on national television in that state, week after week, year after year, she's fair game!

When they were talking about Paula on The View today, they showed a clip from AI last night where Paula told Simon he was being mean to a poor kid, told the kid he was amazing and then laughed behind his back when he left the room. And she's supposed to be the nice one? :S

Did you hear what Jewel said to Randy? She said, after Randy and Simon tore into one of the hopefuls; "You guys are COLD!" The fact that Jewel is going with a 7-time 'All Around' champion cowboy, makes her all-right in my book! B| Yes, she did add credibility to the show. I couldn't see any jealousy in her eyes but more to me like, 'what is happening here?' :D

The best moment ever happened last night. The big guy was singing "America the Beautiful" and the bulgy eyed monkey boy was listening with his ear pressed to the door, to the terrible singing from within.

He looks at Seacrest and says assuredly, "He sounds really great"

Damn! I agree whole-heartedly with you! I think, Springsteen summed it up when he said in one of his songs... "57 channels, ain't nothin' on!" Anything worth watching, the general public won't watch it. We'd rather have pointless, senseless 'sit-coms'.
Like you, I'll wind-up watching the duration of the show... only because my wife likes it!:D Yeah, that's the ticket!:D

Oh... all right!:D Maybe, it's been since Paula's video for her song: 'Straight-up', the girl (to me) could do no wrong. :D I guess, I just have to face the fact... she's... human!:o:D It's just hard to believe!
I just can't stomach Rosie O'Donnell!!! She's just a big-mouth with a cinder block on her shoulder! she needs to sit-down and shut-up.

I am just sooooo disappointed in Paula! I know she's had physical problems and has been hooked on pain pills and all that ... I just don't know.[:/]
She about fell out of her chair at one point. The camera was panning from Randy to Simon and there was Paula... half out of her chair.

I'm currently reading Ben Elton's Chart Throb, which is an excellent piss take of these crap shows.... It's really funny.


He says that there are 3 types on contestant.. CLINGERS (people with sad life stories), BLINGERS (pretty folk) & MINGERS (ugly or retarded folk).
