Lindsey 0 #1 April 11, 2007 I can't wait until I skydive with my son, but today my dad and I had kind of a special moment of our own. We worked a code together. He made me run it, because he thought I'd have some great new insight into anaphylaxis...lol. You think you're nervous when your child does a tandem? (I think I'll be nervous when my child does one) I was nervous as HELL running a code on my dad's patient with him standing (with his 40 years of experience) just over my right shoulder. But it's really cool getting to practice medicine with him. What a unique old fart he is. linz-- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. Lindsey 0 #4 April 12, 2007 Quote That's cool, Lindsey. It was cool. I've been thinking so much about you jumping with your son and wondering how I'll be when mine decides to skydive. I wonder how my dad's thinking about today. Part of me worries that he's critiquing me in his mind. But mostly I bet he's loving the moment as much as I am.-- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged. wildcard451 0 #5 April 12, 2007 That's just about the coolest, and by the way fucking scariest scenario imaginable. Although I would love a chance to run a code with my mom....(critical care/ER nurse)

Lindsey 0 #7 April 12, 2007 Quote sorry for the stupidity - but what does "running a code" mean? Running a code is leading the resuscitation team when a person's in cardiac arrest. jceman 1 #8 April 12, 2007 WTG Linz. That had to be quite an experience. Nice to see that Dad has that much faith in you. Of course he was critiquing you. that's what good teachers (and Daddy's) do. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

I am guessing you are a medic as well and didn't just happen to be visiting your dad that day!!!? "Here love - wanna help dad work?" And yes i know what mumbo jumbo is!! Michele 1 #10 April 12, 2007 Go, Linz. He's as proud of you as you are of him...with all the right reasons. Well done!! My Dad looked at me the other day while we were reading lines for his new play, and he said "let's do a play together." I nearly fell outta the chair...and am seriously considering it...once school's done for the summer. What a blast that would be, you know? What a blast. I'm envious, and thrilled for you, Linz. Hugs, you rock, and all that shit. Ciels- Michele ~Do Angels keep the dreams we seek While our hearts lie bleeding?~

I've been working for my dad for years, but we don't do anything as exciting as what you did. It's still nice to hear an "atta girl" from him though. I'm sure he was very proud of you.She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

I would have loved my daughter to go into medicine, but she had zero interest. j By the way, how did the code go?? My favorite attending when I was a resident just sat back, leaned on the wall, and watched me work a code. When I was desperate for his input, he just said "you are doing it all, and doing it right". It was a great ego boost. Ed"We saved your gear. Now you can sell it when you get out of the hospital and upsize!!" "K-Dub" "
Lindsey 0 #15 April 12, 2007 There's lots of us women who work with our dads. I wouldn't give this up for anything in the world. Heather, I love that picture of you and your dad. I figure you only get so much time with 'em before the opportunity's lost. And I'd, personally, rather share this with him than not. BTW Ed...the code went well. The fella was still on 2.5 of Dopamine yesterday afternoon when I saw him last, and he was still a bit nauseated. But he was sitting in bed carryin' on like the fool that everybody knows him to be.... It's a small town, lol. linz-- A conservative is just a liberal who's been mugged.
